AACN Clinical Scene Investigator (CSI) Academy
The AACN Clinical Scene Investigator (CSI) Academy is a 16-month nursing excellence and leadership training program designed to leverage the staff nurse's expertise to enhance patient care and decrease hospital expenses. Building upon a proven pilot project, this team-based program provides hospitals with both implementation tools and funding to groom nurse leaders who implement change initiatives resulting in improved patient and fiscal outcomes.
Empowering Nurse Leaders
AACN CSI Academy aims to empower staff nurses with the knowledge and support necessary to become leaders who guide their peers in creating unit-based change that is easily scaled hospital-wide. The program reflects AACN's proactive response to the Institute of Medicine's landmark report, "The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health," which confirms the vital role nursing can and should play in the transformation of healthcare.
AACN CSI Academy expands on a successful pilot program conducted in Kansas City, Missouri, which resulted in significant, measurable improvements in patient outcomes and hospital savings.
Program Curriculum
Selected hospitals engage a team of four nurses to work with AACN CSI Academy faculty and an internal mentor from their institution to identify issues related to patient care, then develop and implement solutions resulting in quantifiable improvements. The curriculum consists of content delivered in an experiential learning environment, including onsite workshops, webinars and regular consultations in person, by phone and via e-mail.
