I use nurse referral forms that has 3 copies. I write one up on everything no matter how minor. The parent gets one of these copies. If they call upset I ask did you receive a copy of the health referral? Yes... okay that is your notification. I do not call for minor injuries. These referral forms are great! They have saved me bunches!

I agree that we are raising wimps. I have thought about going to the classes at the beginning of the year, the middle and towards the end and teach the students what they can and can't come to the nurse for....in front of the teacher. I think it will help. I see so many silly things in my office. One insect bite! If my own child came to me c/o a insect bite I would come unglued. Good grief..deal with it!

I have referal forms too. I use them frequently but perhaps I should send one with every student who comes in. If they actually get back to the parents and they see some of the crazy stuff these kids come in for maybe they will have a talk with their child....or not.....!!:bugeyes:
