A few questions involving LVN/RN

Published

Hi, new here. Very interested in becoming a nurse, its something I have ALWAYS thought about and can't think of doing anything else that would make me as happy. I love helping and taking care of people :D

1. How long would it take to become a LVN?

2. Is the LVN course easy (compared to the RN route)?

3. What exactly is the difference between LVN & RN?

4. How long would it take if I wanted to move my LVN-RN?

5. Would the RN course be easier if I already have my LVN?

I essentially always wanted to work in a Nursing home, so I think it would be much easier and smarter to get my LVN. But I would eventually want to move up and become a Nurse in a hospital, then a travel Nurse after I rank up some experience. Would it be better to just go for my RN? I am just worried that it will be too rough for me and I won't be able to make it with good grades and get accepted into Nursing School. So I thought I should do my LVN first, work in a nursing home for a few years & then go for my RN.

It sounds great in my head, but time does have me worried. I don't want to spend alot of time in school (I hated HS).. I just want to get out there and do it. :yeah: Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take Care

If you anticipate problems in adjusting to school, then it might make sense to start out with LVN school. The advantage to this is that, in many cases, the LVN license will assist you in getting admitted to an LVN to RN program, whereas you will be competing with the best of the best when attempting to enter an RN program through a direct application. Research the types of programs that are available in your area to see what may be best for you. Good luck.
