I'm an older pre-nursing student (53).I have the opportunity to capture an A&P II course that just opened up last minute, however, I'm already set to take Stats this fall.I understand that A&P II is more difficult than A&P I (I received an "A"), but I really need to tuck away these courses quickly.Would you take these courses at the same time? I'm really on the fence but need to make a decision very quickly!Thank you in advance for your advice.

I have never taken stats and I know it is a hard course but im absolutely positive you can do it. There have been plenty of times where I have had to take several difficult courses at one time and in nursing school this can be the case as well. Just set your mind to it and work hard and you can achieve anything.

I took A&P2 and Stat this Summer. The professor make he class. I not the greastest at math but my professor made stat easy for me and I got and A. My A&P professor was horrible so I spent alot of time on quizlet and Youtube but I got an A- in the class. if you can devote the study time for both classes you will be able to pass both.

I just wanted to add for future reference for online RN-BSN students or whatever the case may be. It all depends on where you take Statistics. Some schools offer a condensed version of Stats or a Stats for Healthcare course. I recently completed an online Stats 16-week course through the University of Texas at Arlington. Meanwhile, my friend took a 5-week Stats course through Grand Canyon. The two were like night and day. The UTA course was all-consuming and took every moment of free time that I had. While my friend took her Stats course simultaneously with another course. It was a breeze for her. There was no possible way that I could have taken another course at the same time as Stats at UTA and handle work and life in general. (I am the nurse manager of a large clinic). I would do some research about the Stats course you decide to take because they're not all the same. If I had it to do over again- I would have taken it at my local junior college. I hired two local tutors to help me with the UTA course and they were both blown away at the level of this course. I ended up ditching the locals and taking advantage of the free tutoring that UTA offers. Don't get me wrong- I love UTA and I am glad that I made it through their Stats course- because it was truly an accomplishment in itself. Note- the instructor and academic coach for my Stats course were phenomenal. Also, I am not a math whiz, but I was able to grasp the concepts that were taught in Stats. My issue was with the enormous amount of material that we were expected to work through and retain for the quizzes and tests.
My advice would be to do some research on the Stats course you decide to take. Do NOT overload yourself or try to push yourself to meet some unrealistic graduation date. It's not worth the stress. Stats is a lot of work that involves some linear algebra, arithmetic order of operations, and logical reasoning among other things. Self-confidence, a positive can-do attitude, and some common sense will get you through Stats.
Such an outstanding response, thank you J.B. Chan! I will continue to research the best way to complete this prerequisite while also keeping in mind a realistic end goal. The only downside to attempting to finish Stats at my local CC, is the constant turnover in professors. I can see how hiring a tutor, in that case, would be well worth considering. Again, thank you.
