I'm currently in AP2 and I'm losing hope quick. There are 2 tests, an anatomy quiz and a final exam. On the first test I got very close to an 80 and on the 2nd one I got a 62 (60 is a pass). Statistics show that the exam score is usually the lowest, so that means statistically I would get lower than a 60. Not good. There are less than 4 weeks left until final exams and it seems like there's very little chance for me to pass now.
I'm probably weakest in memorizing all the anatomy but do OK in physiology. There is TONS of stuff to memorize though, it seems impossible. It doesn't help that the instructor is extremely boring and I learn nothing in class and must always teach myself on my own time.
I could really use some good study tips to learn the anatomy (heart, great vessels, resp, digestive and urinary)..Any tips? Has anyone overcome the odds? Any possible suggestions??

Use flashcards every time you are waiting for something. You can leave a stack next to the toilet
thanks so much for the suggestion!
would you suggest making your own flashcards or buying them? I have no experience with flash cards whatsoever..I generally relied on staring at anatomy pictures and trying to memorize everything.

I earned pretty good grades in both AP I and AP II. There is a lot of information to learn, and it can seem pretty hopeless. Flashcards only really helped me for muscles when we needed to know the origin, insertion, and action of all the muscles. The only way I had any luck was just rote memorization. It's unfortunate and not very interesting, but it's what worked for me.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time. Here are some things that helped me. Finding a blank picture of the body system I was studying and trying to label the parts. If you do well in physiology you can try and combine that with memorizing the parts. for example, follow the flow of blood through the heart and keep saying the name of the chambers and valves. Personally I would invest in pre made flash cards. They are sold at Borders for about $25. I'm a visual learner and the way the cards outlined the body systems just helped it stick. I'm not sure how you are tested on anatomy, but at my school we had models and an answer key to look at during lab time, and every week the professor would point to parts on the model and we had to write the name down. I used to take pictures of the models and answer keys to review at home. I also loved to find/make nifty mnemonics. I can't think of any for A&P right now, but for example in microbiology we had to remember the order of classifying organisms (kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species) I remembered King Philip came over for green salad. If you can think in terms of physiology, flow of blood, creation of urine, flow through the digestive tract, etc then make some mnemonics based on that.
Hope this helps :)
thanks!

I always worked best for me to actually draw theanatomical parts I needed to learn....I am a bit of a visual learner. Also I purchased an anatomy and physiology colouring book....seems funny but it works....it really cuts time out of learning everything. When I had to learn the bones I used the colouring book then went into the library to actually touch the bones...took 20minutes for me to learn them backwards and forwards....something about being able to touch the bones aided me in my learning....same as the muscles
