A future nurse...in need of advice....!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I just graduated with my undergraduate degree with a 3.0 gpa. I decided I want to pursue my lifelong dream and go into nursing. I have a few questions....

I personally want to do an accelerated nursing program in hopes to go and get my masters after that. Are there grants that I could apply for to get a full ride to nursing school, scholarships because I graduated cum laude, or help to assist with me attending college to get my BSN?

Is it better to take the prereq courses at a community college and transfer them over to the school I want to attend or take them at the school I plan on attending?

Is there any advice you guys could give me about nursing in general or the classes I will be taking?

Not sure if you still need this advice. I am currently in my last semester of an accelerated nursing program. It was a wild ride! There are many scholarships available. I personally took as many courses as I could at the community college and transferred them, but be careful. There were a few my school wouldn't accept that I had to retake. Just make sure they are compatible before wasting time. If you plan on doing the accelerated program it was so very important for me to cut back on work. I worked full time my first and second semester. It was ridiculous. My third semester I cut back to two days a week as a PCT and it was a relief. It takes serious dedication to make it through. Also, as far as financial aid. Have you filled our your FAFSA yet? I know a lot of people in my program that it helped pay most of their way. If you work for a hospital I know a lot of them also offer tuition reimbursement. If it comes down to it there are always student loans!
