A Funny Moment in LTC...

I am an RN in my mid-forties. Recently, I was working in our facility's long term memory care unit. One of our residents, a salty little lady of 92, noticed my wedding ring on my finger and stated, "Oh, you got a new piece of jewelry!", to which I replied, "Oh, no, it's not new. I've had it since 1988." She looked up at me with a look that was 50% shock and 50% disgust and proclaimed, "You're OLD!!!"

That made my day. Do any of you have any funny moments you would like to share? I would love to hear some of them.

On an Alzheimer's unit, 3 female residents and 1 male resident all sat near each other in the TV area. All three females were having different conversations, but speaking to one another. The male resident was looking from one woman to another (obviously trying to make sense of what they were saying..), defeated, he shook his head and said "I never did understand women.."

We have a lady on our floor who is 102 years old and says some of the nastiest things and sometimes some hilarious things. Sometimes she gets in these perverted moods and will ask me if I have a "Big daddy" and one time said, "you must have a Big Daddy because you are a Sexy Sexpot."

She hates taking showers, and one time I went in her room wearing red scrubs to tell her that she was getting a shower that evening and she started telling the CNA's that I was Satan.
