Alright guys, I'm new to the forum and am in need of a little bit of encouragement. I currently work full time, and have a home and husband (no kids, although I often feel like my husband is one! LoL) and I took 3 classes this semster to get started with my Associates in Nursing (RN program). I got A's in both of the other classes but in A&P I I just got my final grade today and I only have a 90%... which at my school is only a B (92% and above = A). I'm devastated. My school does a very compretitve nursing program and a B is less points than an A to qualify for a seay in clinicals... Plus, I've always been an "A" student, It sounds cocky, but I just hold myself to very high standards. I worked for that A, I really did, but I'm frustrated that if I was able to go back and do it all over again, would I be able to work just a little bit harder for that extra 2%?
Any personal experiences or encouraging words anyone want to share? I could sure use them right now
Thanks.

I have also usually been a good student, and I worked harder in my A&P classes than in any other class that I've ever taken! But it definitely pays off. One thing I learned in nursing school was to let my ego go and accept less than an 'A'...as long as I was learning the material. It was a blow to my pride, but I think it was good for my character :)
Anyway, I would think that a single 'B' would still make you a strong candidate for the nursing program. And when you get discouraged, just keep focused on the bigger picture...are you learning and retaining the knowledge, regardless of the grade you get? It sounds like you're a very conscientious student, so my guess is yes!!

Look at it this way: you passed and never have to take it again :) A B is not the end of the world--if your other grades are high, you're still in a good position to get in. Besides, it's not so much the grade as what you've learned from the class. Hang in there!
Also, if you think a 92% for an A was tough...when you're actually in NS, it takes more than that for an A: usually a 93% or 94%...some even a 95%. Now THAT takes some getting used to!

Ditto what Meriwhen said...If you're devastated over a B now, you're in for a real shocker when you start taking nursing classes....
If you feel for certain that you earned now less than an A, why not have a chat with your professor?

I got B's in both of my A&P classes. I went on to be accepted to my BSN program the first time I applied, and I'm graduating with honors this Friday. It's not the end of the world to get B's in prereqs :) I hold myself to high standards also, and I know I did the best I could in my A&P classes. I certainly learned a lot (information I still use on a daily basis!). As long as you feel you learned the material, put the grade behind you and move on :heartbeat
Thanks everyone. I know that this is going to be an experience, and that I shouldn't freak over one 'B' but I keep thinking "If I got a B in A&PI what on earth am I going to do when classes get harder?!"
I found a good flow for myself by mid class, that really showed through on my lecture exams, so I think I'm going to apply that to my next classes.
Thanks for the support. I knew I would have to get over it, because let's be honest, it wasn't going to change, but you all helped more than you can imagine!
