I think we could waste time trying to understand the whims and intentions of a mentally ill man or we could look at the intentions and objectives of the people who have influence over the old guy.

There's been buzz around some billionaires with dreams for Greenland for months now, especially in the tech world.

https://www.news.com.au/world/europe/billionaires-quietly-bought-in-to-greenland-ahead-of-expected-trump-move/news-story/a9046ee3d88dfd60ad3b535feea68bd6

We have to look for answers beyond Trump's assertions.  None of his rhetoric strengthens our alliances or creates a sense of security, so we should consider another explanation.  What does the fact pattern suggest?

Did anyone catch any portion of that crazy press briefing today? Trump is unwell.

Thanks for your explanation, but I was curious about Beerman's reasons for acquiring Greenland.

How so? The US already has a military base there.

Its a small military base.

It'd be a deterrent to China or Russia deciding to take it over.

It's still my opinion this is all a negotiating tactic, and that there are no plans to take over by military action.

I watched about 10 minutes of it and got so fed up that I switched over channels. All he was doing at that point was showing pictures of people with random crimes attached to them with no context of whether these were crimes committed in USA or other countries. Also mentioned people with convictions - a bit rich coming from someone who has, how many convictions?

And Beerman, I am totally uninterested in how the American judicial system works so don't bother explaining how convictions against Trump don't count.

Actually, I'm curious when the 25th Amendment kicks in.

And they have NATO.  As part of NATO we already have an agreement to come to their defense.

I think they would align themselves even closer to the US and allow more troops and defense there, along with NATO. Denmark has even allowed more US bases troops there.

I think it's a weak defense when we must beef up their security and safety with taking them over.  They don't want China or Russia anymore than we do and said they are also willing to make deals over their assets favoring the US rather than Russia or China.

It's a very strategic Island but taking them over, asking them to give up their sovereignty, their health care and their education system and forcing ourselves on them isn't the approach that's necessary.  I don't get it.

Yes they are part of NATO and they have American bases on there. What happens when NATO is disbanded because of Tumps actions?

America becomes weaker, that is what happens. Yes you will still have the military might but you will lose all the intelligence that you get from Europe, you will lose all the bases you have in Europe. Your nearest air base when you fly west will be in the Middle East somewhere because Europe will not let your troops land on there soil.

Absolutely the Greenlanders do not want to have the American healthcare system or the American education system or even American labour laws.

Hopefully it does not come to that.

There is buzz that on both sides of the aisle congress wants Greenland to remain Greenland. There's also the idea that he's over reaching like he often does to get what he wants (a big military presence there to counter Russia and China and access to their minerals) and that Greenland will stay Greenland. He's the great flip flopper so while the markets react negatively and Europe is sidetracked by this it only remains to be seen what will happen.

Practically speaking it won't.

First, the VP and a majority of the "principle officers of the executive departments notify the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives of their assertion that a disability exists.

After so doing, Mr. Trump has the a right to submit his declaration that no disability exists; which, if it makes it this far, you know he will.  Then, it would  require a two thirds majority of both houses to sustain the claim.  Possibly after the midterms, but not now.

I think he deteriorating. Do you notice how wet and slurry his voice is? I've seen at least 2 medical professionals on social media relate this possible stroke sequelae, or fronto-temporal dementia. He is not handling secretions very well. Perhaps he'll develop aspiration pneumonia.

He appeared hypomanic today. I agree with Chare, there will be no 25th amendment. He could rip off his clothes and dance naked across the South Lawn and no one will do anything. I think death is the only way he leaves office.

Futurism again, eh?

The doctor also says he's recovered quite well.

Agreed.  His speech has definitely changed with slurred words and one side of his face visibly droops when he dozes off in meetings.  Combine that with unexplained MRIs , bruising on his hands, and increased frequency of cognitive assessments and it makes sense to be concerned about the mental health of the old guy who also demonstrates erratic and emotional behavior.

It does seem unlikely that any member of the republican party would publicly question Trump's fitness in 2026.
