Jan 21Jan 21 This editorial from the NY Times has an interesting graphic about how much money the Trump family has made from the presidency. I think it is in the same vein as Beerman's comment a few days ago about how much a billion dollars actually is. https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2026/01/20/opinion/editorials/trump-wealth-crypto-graft.html?unlocked_article_code=1.GFA.Tx97.S44UClA3teu8&smid=url-share

I did do a search on "Trump stroke" and what I found was various left-wing or alternatuve news websites reporting on the same appearance and diagnosis by a doctor on a podcast. Not even MSNBC or CNN bothered with it. There were also older stories from his first term in which claims were made that he had a stroke. I guess he recovered quite well from that one, didn't he?

All he was doing at that point was showing pictures of people with random crimes attached to them with no context of whether these were crimes committed in USA or other countries. What difference would that have made? I'm interested to know how your country handles immigrants who have criminal histories. Are they allowed in? What happens if they commit crimes once they're there? How about when they enter illegally? I also noticed you didn't mention the stroke symptoms that others did. But you did mention the 25th Amendment. Why do you think the 25th Amendment should come into play?
Jan 21Jan 21 Trump is old and aging. I don't watch him as I don't watch TV and wouldn't waste my time watching him anyway. It does seem to me he is pretty much the same rambling, lying, narcissistic, petty person he always has been. From what I hear I can't say his speech has definitely changed other than perhaps he sounds older. He's long mispronounced words, made words and fumbled around and rambled sometimes incoherently and off topic . His agenda is what worries me the most right now. Quote Trump has rolled out many of the Project 2025 policies he once claimed ignorance about https://www.npr.org/2026/01/19/nx-s1-5640006/trump-has-rolled-out-many-of-the-project-2025-policies-he-once-claimed-ignorance-about
Jan 21Jan 21 I was listening to the BBC podcast this AM and Trump seemed to indicate a plan for Greenland that was a little softer in rhetoric that we all could be happy with. What also struck me is he talked about NATO as another entity using words language like "they..." and not "we" since we are a part of NATO. He's in Switzerland now. Hopefully, as he's done in the past, he will be professional. https://www.bbc.com/news/live/cjrzjqg8dlwt

I've seen at least 2 medical professionals on social media relate this possible stroke sequelae, or fronto-temporal dementia. He is not handling secretions very well. Perhaps he'll develop aspiration pneumonia. He appeared hypomanic today. I agree with Chare, there will be no 25th amendment. He could rip off his clothes and dance naked across the South Lawn and no one will do anything. I think death is the only way he leaves office. And, after doing a few minutes of homework, the podcast is full of anti-Trump episodes and the Dr. is a pulmonary/ critical care specialist. Hardly one qualified to tell us without ever seeing the patient that Trump had a stroke 6 months ago. It seems this doctor was chosen for what he was going to say and that he had a MD after his name. Not because he's an expert.
Jan 21Jan 21 Experts Beerman said: What difference would that have made? None whatsoever but basically just random crimes. I did notice that a couple of them were along the lines of having sex with minors - brave thing for president friend of Epstein. Beerman said: I'm interested to know how your country handles immigrants who have criminal histories. Are they allowed in? What happens if they commit crimes once they're there? How about when they enter illegally? Just look at any UK news channel. Illegal immigration is a big issue just now. I was never criticising the removal of illegal immigrants I was criticising the methods used that just disappear people from the streets, leave innocent people injured or dead and take no care with peoples rights or apparently the laws Beerman said: I also noticed you didn't mention the stroke symptoms that others did. Didn't know about the stroke but would explain all those MRI's and multiple cognitive tests that he supposedly "aced". As I write this Trump is talking at Davos, I have no interest in listening to an hour and a half of some old fart rambling. I will get the highlights (or rather the lowlights) later.

Agree...Watched the entire Trump press briefing today (he appears at 45 ) with family who doesn't want to hear news as "just gets them upset" --- "Trump was just being Trump", not willing to admit his worsening appearance and presentation. Entering the briefing room with a thick stack of papers, Trump said that he had in his first year back in the White House had "done more than any other administration has done by far." Trump addressed reporters alone at the podium, with WH press Karoline Leavitt standing off to his right. He quickly launched into holding up photographs of people arrested in Minnesota, with each saying "Minnesota worst of the worst.". Large binder clipped grouping of individual papers listing "each important accomplishment" to discuss latter tossed on the floor --after diatribe about binder clip potential injury, Rambling gravely voice, much content deviated from prepared speech (I won Minnesota 3 times but they stole votes--President who last won their vote was Nixon per state/news reports)), gave a somewhat meandering defense of his declaration of an economic emergency to impose tariffs, said the law is clear to him but he doesn't know how the Supreme Court will rule. Still promising to give each American $2,000 from tariff proceeds. I saw his megalomania throughout this speech.

Again, I maintain the highlights you pointed out could have been Trump 2016...a rambling, lying, going off topic, megalomaniac. What's new and different here other than many the "gravely voice". I hate to be in the "Trump being Trump" camp because I fiercely disapprove of him, but if this shows sign of his decline or a stroke, then he had one a decade ago.

Not because he's an expert. I have no idea about what podcast you are referring to. I did not cite a podcast or a pulmonologist. There are purported medical professionals judging that there is some neurological deterioration in the current president's condition, just as there were people making judgements about the previous president. I look at those judgements and then look at the president's appearances and notice there is some correlation. Trump does seem to make some slurping noises. He does seem to have a wet sounding voice. He has been making almost daily appearances, including today. As a retired person with an interest in current events and politics, I have the opportunity to watch those appearances. I am merely pointing out what I see to pique the interest of others to check out how the president is doing. I understand that others don't share my interest, or are employed and don't have the time.

Trump seems to have trouble remembering that he wants to control Greenland and not Iceland and he apparently thinks that the USA has had a friendly relationship with Italy that dates back to pre-revolutionary times. Maybe he's just jet lagged and not dangerously confused and unhinged.
