German Nurses anywhere?

I'm a german nurse, graduated from a german nursing school and would like to get in touch with other german nurses in the US. So, if you are one or know one, post a reply.

I'm German-American and earned my nursing degrees here in the U.S within the last several years. What in particular are you interested in? Perhaps I can help?

I'm just looking for some exchange on what the experience is like for other german Nurses working here compared to Germany. Lots of things are different.
Thanks for your reply!

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with nursing in Germany. However, I've been quite keen on finding out how I can get a nursing position in Germany and also to find out what it is like. I know it's not the same as it is here and the money is probably not as good either. Care to share your insights and opinion?
- Jan 30, '99 by JuttaHi GP,
the major differences are that in Germany you also do personal care (which I haven't done here) and less physical assessment and you have mostly RN's on the ward and only maybe a couple of CNA's per shift. I have also been on wards with no CNA's. So you don't have that much responsibility or rather, you share it with more people. In the States I have worked only Home Health Care which was stressful but I liked it. Right now I'm staying at home with my almost 2 1/2 year old son and I am getting majorly concerned about not finding a job when I want to go back to work, which would be after 3 1/2 of not working. But anyway, as far as working in Germany for you, I think the place to find out what you need to do, is the "Regierungspraesidium". They would be the ones to certify you. There is one in each "state". But once you have your Certificate you can work anywhere in Germany and it does not become inactive. The pay is not as good, that's true. I hope this is of any help to you. Write again if you have more questions.

Im a lisence German nurse, finished my nursing education in Germany and worked as a nurse in an ICU i Koeln. Now im working as a Clinical technician CTICU at the Cleveland Clinic Founadation here in Cleveland, Ohio while waiting for my paper works to be processed.
How did you got your US nursing license. Im having a hard time getting mine. I applied through the California Board of Nursing but the lady whos reviewing my paper works is giving me a hard time. Shes insisting that my german Certificate or diploma(Urkunde) is not the german nursing license. She wants me to send her a copy of my german nursing license.
i tried explaining to her also the school of nursing that i visited in germany that the diploma acts as a german nursing license but it seems that she doesnt understand.
hope you can give me some hint how you got your US nursing license
take care, hope to hear from you...

This thread is several years old and the OP may not come on here anymore. Better to start this as a new thread and maybe one of the mods can do this for you.
Suzanne may be able to answer this for you and hope you do get it sorted
Good luck - Mar 17, '08 by magdalenaRN,BSNHallo German nurses,
I have a german nursing licence and worked in a longterm facility for a short time before coming to the US in 1990. Obtained US licence in 1999. Presently I work in a acute care and really love it. But I am always open for new more challenging job offers.
Nursing here is more advanced than in Germany as far as task oriented skills. How is every one doing? d to know there are more german nurses here.
