WGU MSN-ed program tips please

Nursing Students Western Governors

I've been a level III NICU nurse for 13 years and currently work part-time.

Many thanks to posts with high regards of 's online MSN program, I am in the process of applying.

I have high ambitions to complete the program in one year. I am asking for advice on successful program tips and advice from recent graduates. Thank you!!!

The best tip I can give you is that doesn't expect perfection, they expect on to be competent and have knowledge. Don't over think the assignments! Good luck and congratulations on choosing WGU! Best decision I've made with schools!

that IS good advice- especially since most nurse personalities over think & over analyze by our nature! It is an innovative way to obtain a degree & along with that a shift of "perfection" thinking. I have now been accepted. :) I am waiting to choose a start date (or even start???) while I'm am weighing the benefit of obtaining an msn- since I would be doing it for future job possibilities/opportunities & most likely not using the masters right away. The timing is good in my life right now to plow through school though. I'm just considering the cost vs benefit. (though is soooo reasonable as far as msn programs go!)

I'm curious, how are you using your msn with your career? how long ago did you graduate & how long did the program take you? thanks!

Just FYI, as of 9/13 the MSN program at underwent a huge revamp - so some information on the program may be outdated. I graduated from the BSN program and am still waiting for feedback on all the new MSN courses, as well as the new clinical practicum.

hmm. Interesting. My enrollment gal was able to email me very specific course work & course information for the MSN program. That is good to know though. Let me know featherzRN if/when you start!!!!

True, the information is out there, but very few people have gone through the 'new' classes yet, at least the peeps on facebook. =) I am waiting to see how the 40-hour practicum works out - the other new classes don't worry me.
