Tacoma Community College Nursing Program

U.S.A. Washington

Hi... I was just accepted into the TCC Nursing Program. Does anyone out there have any advice or information to offer? I'd appreciate hearing about the program, instructors, clinicals, etc. Thanks! Oh, one more thing... if you are aware of any specific information that would be beneficial to review prior to starting, please let me know.

I talked with them regarding my acceptance to the bates articulation program (darn you influenza, for bringing my Psych grade down!!) and they said, as I am already a NA-C, I would not actually be starting until Fall! Kinda saddening, but still in!

Just give them a call.

do you mind me asking, what GPA got you into the BATES -tcc program? The only person I know who got in, was in the reg program at a 3.95 or something.

Good luck, and let me know what it is like, because I might not be able to get into tcc for fall!!

I bet if you re-take psych next quarter you could get in the reg program for fall.

I calculated it as a 3.76 with a lot of very odd transcript issues (they averaged my chemistries and were confused as to what counted for what, as my schooling is in other states).

I have a sinking feeling that I am at the bottom of the accepted group.

But Accepted is accepted!

Heck yes it is!!! I hope they don't average my psych classes!!! I got an A and a D so that wouldn't work out very well.

Congratulations TCC is very competative. I am excited for you.

I really hope I get in for fall quarter, but A&P could go either way still.

It is so hard to memorize everything.

good luck!

Hey Guys, I actually got a hold of someone on the phone and she daid the director was out of town and she would be back this week. She said we would be getting an e-mail this week about the orientation. Can I ask, did your acceptance letter say that you were in the articulation program or did you find out later? My letter just said the tcc nursing program so I wonder. Anyways, still on pins and needles waiting. Let's hope they put us out of our misery soon!!

Hi!

Thank you for posting that information. :specs: I was wondering if they were going to send us something in the mail, or e-mail. I am so excited, I can't stand it! Regarding the letter, mine just said TCC nursing program, too. I wouldn't bet my life on it, but I think if you are accepted in the articulation program they tell you right away, since you have to start classes over at Bates so quickly. I will post as soon as I hear anything about orientation.

PS It's nice to 'meet' all of you :nuke:

Jet Black Stare, are you hoping for class A or B? I talked to the nursing secretary and she said it would pretty much be decided for us by the time orientation rolls around. I think I could make either schedual work, we'll see. Are you currently working in healthcare? I started job in October at an assisted living facility. I'm kind of sad to have to cut back my hours, because I feel there is still so much to learn from the nurses there. I am a cna/ mec tech and love it.

Hi Irene joy,

I don't know what class A or B means.....Where did you see the schedule? I was wondering how they were going to have us choose which class to register for. I am still waiting for my orientation information :o) Tell me everything!!!!!

I don't have any experience in healthcare other than having my children and helping take care of someone close who died from cancer. I am worried about it a little, but I know others who had no experience and did fine (so I am going to think positively!) I think that your experience as a CNA will only help you.

Hi again...I just noticed on the TCC class schedule that the classes are split into A,B,and C. I don't know, either schedule looks ok with me. I am so glad that we can talk to each other about this. I think that my husband is getting tired of listening to me blabber on and on about nursing school.

Hi Jet Black Stare, if you go to the tcc website and look under class sceduales it shows all the nursing courses. Or if you happen to have a catolog it's in there too. For example first quarter students take Nursing 111 Theory A,B or C, Nursing 112 Clinical A,B or C, Nursing 113 A,B or C and Nursing 141, which I believe is all online. I may be wrong but I think that class C is the part time students because they only have 16 slots in there class and A and B have 30 or 40, I can't remember. If you're in the A class you have morning lecture on mon and tues and then thursday is a longer day with nurs113 from 10:30-12:20 and then clinical from 1-4 pm. If your in class B its kind of the same except opposite and your longer day is friday. Of course who knows if any of this will be the same, I fully expect to have to fly by the seat of my pants and roll with the punches. Hope this helps!

Thank you Irene joy, that does help.I think we posted at the same time!

I have a feeling that being able to 'go with the flow' will be a good quality for us to have.

Just wanted to let you know that I changed my username, (formerly Jet Black Stare).
