Hi... I was just accepted into the TCC Nursing Program. Does anyone out there have any advice or information to offer? I'd appreciate hearing about the program, instructors, clinicals, etc. Thanks! Oh, one more thing... if you are aware of any specific information that would be beneficial to review prior to starting, please let me know.

No I haven't yet either. I also recieved that email regarding a futur email for orientation. Hopefully they will update us soon because I also need to start the financial aid process...

Hi, I haven't received anything yet. The only email was from last week stating they had received my response and that they are planning on sending information on orientation soon, but didn't specify when.. I have to figure out financial aid and daycare too. I hope they send us something soon:confused: Let, us know if you hear anything please.

Hi guys - just wanted to say that I got the jumbo orientation email yesterday afternoon - boy, lot's of stuff to do!!! I've got an appointment for titers on Tuesday, then will be getting my CPR card on 3/6 at the TCC class (on the winter continuing education schedule) and HIV/AIDS requirement done as well (take home DVD and workbook). I'm a little fuzzy about the background check stuff - is this the criminal background check (thought that was done through WSP, and had assumed they had done this already), or just for shot records, NAC licenses, etc.?

I'm still scared to death, but excited for orientation - it's feeling more real now!

Yeah I am confused about the background check too. I am not sure how we upload the medical records and everything. I got really lucky because I am already a CNA so I have most of the required immunizations and training. The only thing I have to get is the H1N1 shot (which I am not happy about LOL). Good luck to those of you that have to take HIV/AIDS test...those movies are sooooo long and sooooo boring :D I can't wait until school starts.

Hello!! I got my CNA this summer but was told that that I have to have "health care provider" CPR, and not the adult CPR that I got with my program?? Also, I think I threw away the certificate for the HIV/AIDS training..do you know if I have to have this specific certificate or will my state CNA registration be enough??

Anyways this is very exciting! I have been comparing book prices..and the Book Depository has some of our texts for $50.00 cheaper, but some are more expensive...and then I get completely overwhelmed and start playing Sudoku.

I kinda figured out the background check/immunization record upload thing. Basically you have to use a scanner...yes, a scanner....to scan your copies of your records (in PDF format) onto your computer. Then you upload those scanned documents into that immunization tracker profile. Lovely isn't it??

So i have a question.. Its says if you have had the vaccinations in the past you would have to get proof of immunization by titer. I'm just trying to find out where i can get the titers done. Is it something you can get by your normal doctor? I'm sure it is... but just wondering.

So much to do!!!

Hey Sunny26-

Unfortunately if you loose that AIDS/HIV certificate you have to take the whole thing over again, which totally sucks. As far as I know they don't keep it on file anywhere (unless maybe your program head kept a copy...it wouldn't hurt to ask). Maybe the head of our RN program will accept the CNA license as proof, that would be great, but I would ask them pretty quick in case they make you take it again. :( And you also have to get the BLS for health care providers, the adult one isn't as thorough. All of this stuff is completely overwhelming!

Thanks for the tip on the books. I am definitely gonna check that out! Where is it by the way? Is it a website?

khowe,

The book depository . com...I ordered a chemistry book from them last quarter and saved $40.00! They are located in the UK but don't charge shipping:)

If you find anywhere else cheaper let us know!!

Hi everyone, I dont know if this helps, but if you are having trouble converting your scanned records to pdf for the immunization portion of the background check, heres a link that will allow you to upload them and convert them on the internet for free. it sends you the converted pdf file to your email address. www.zamzar.com. Hope this helps!
