PLU elmsn 2015

U.S.A. Washington

Published

Hey everyone! I know it's a little early, but I'm wondering if anyone is applying to the PLU elmsn program to start in 2015.

We could use this forum as a place to communicate and support each other through this process!

I am so ready to get things rolling. PLU is my first choice, so hoping this year is my year!

In my confirmation email they said this:

"This is just a quick update to let you know that your application to the ELMSN program at PLU is complete and it is being routed to the admissions committee for review. The committee will begin reviews in early January."

So I am assuming decisions will start to go out the end of January/early February and I know in previous years some decisions haven't gone out until March/April. But I'm assuming those are late applicants. I'm hoping everyone who applied by the priority deadline will find out soon.

I am super anxious! I keep just trying to forget about it and not think about it, but that's basically impossible.

Happy holidays to you all!

Hi folks! I assume no one has heard back from PLU yet, right? I expect it will be quite soon...at least I hope it will be! I just looked at their website and realized it has gotten a makeover. They have added some info to it. Thought I'd mention it in case you didn't already know. Good luck everyone!

Oh! One last thing, just out of curiosity, how long were your essays?

I just found out I was accepted into the June 2015 ELMSN program. So they're making decisions!

Mine were one page for each essay

Sheniell, how did you find out? Via mail or phone call? I remember in previous years the school called, just wondering if this was the case! Also, would you mind sharing a little bit of your background? Thanks :)

Congrats by the way! Hopefully (fingers crossed) we will be classmates!

Congratulations Sheniell! What fantastic news. I hope you did something to celebrate. Like May 25th, I am also curious to know how you found out. I'd also love to hear if you know how many have been accepted and how many have applied. Congratulations again!

Congrats to whomever has been accepted! Just to clarify, there was only one essay, right? The personal statement?

That's my understanding. One personal essay in which we were to discuss our career goals and our reason for wanting to attend PLU. Mine was on the long side. I wonder if I did myself a disservice by not being more brief. I tell you, the waiting is not helping my sense of moral! :cheeky:

Congratulations to those who have heard back! Would you mind sharing whether it was a phone call, email or snail mail notification?

Thank you! I do not know how many have applied or how many have been accepted. I am out of state so was notified of my acceptance via email. They will be sending paperwork in the mail as well. It has been a long journey for me. I applied to PLU's ELMSN last year and was waitlisted for the 2014 class. I was not chosen from the waitlist. I then applied to the BSN program as backup and was accepted. I was supposed to start the BSN program this February 3rd. But, now that I have been accepted into the ELMSN June 2015 program, I will not be joining the BSN cohort.

After I was notified last year that I was not chosen from the waitlist, I knew I needed to make my self stand out for the following years application. I signed up for an 8 week CNA course at TCC and started volunteering at my local hospital 3 days a week. My two letters of recommendation were from the hospital staff. I believe those were a few of the contributing factors that helped me get in this year.
