Gig Harbor or Tacoma!

Aloha! I am a new grad RN in Hawaii who has been hired at a hospital in Gig Harbor or Tacoma (I've been offered both positions, thanks to this board by the way :)~)

My question is this, does anyone know of a boarding house or room for rent within easy reach of the hospital. I'm over 40 have excellent references don't smoke or have pets, and need a launching pad until I get a few paychecks and can rent a house/apartment. If I can't find something I will have to turn down the positions, which would really suck because there isn't much happening here right now.

If anyone has any suggestions, or knows of any places could you please give me a bump? Thanks and happy holidays to everyone!

sorry, this post has nothing to do with finding a place to rent, but I was curious to see if you ended up in gig harbor or in Tacoma. I am currently applying to that hospital system and no very little about it. Thanks for the help!

I ended up taking a position in Reno because housing was not working out for me in Washington. Two things: I do not have enough good things to say about the recruiting process for St. Joe's, St. Anthony's or St. Cloud. They were fantastic to me! If housing had not been an issue they would definitely be my first pick.

On a second note, the Nevada State Board of Nursing is a freaking nightmare and the most adversarial people I think I have ever had the misfortune to meet. If I wasn't obligated to a internship I would tell them to kiss my ass and never return to the state, what a joke! I would NEVER trust them for any reason. So if you are headed this way, just a heads up that you might want to reconsider! God knows I would if I could and I am counting the days to get out of here. GREAT hospital, totally crappy Nursing Board.

I was wondering if you could tell me how you got offered a job with that system when you live in Hawaii. I live in California and want to work for that system. Can you tell me how hard it was or what was invovled? Thank you so much!!

Aloha BB..... I have had the best success working through careerbuilder.com. I have had several interviews, several offers and all with great systems. Through them I also hooked up with a recruiter who has been amazing and has taken my career to the next level! Hope things go great for you, let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
