Washington Hospital Center Residency February 2011 COHORT

U.S.A. Washington DC

Published

Hello everyone I wanted to start a separate thread for people interviewing for the February 2011 Residency, I just got the e-mail a couple of minutes ago saying that I will be interviewing in December 16, I graduated in May and this is my first interview :uhoh3: so I am a little bit nervous.

If anybody that went to program has any tips, I will appreciate it! Thanks!:nurse:

I'm curious how you guys that just started feel about the current strike?? I'm supposed to start in April, but I don't know if I feel comfortable getting into a situation where I would have to make that type of alliance (with management or fellow, senior nurses). Do you think it will all be resolved by April? What is the climate like?

Specializes in CVSICU.

I know this is an old post, but I went in for my physical yesterday and we talked a little about the strike. I was told that the hospital proposed to do away with shift differentials and the nurses didn't agree (obviously). The hospital decided back in aug or sept to keep differentials but the union didn't want to strike until now because there were people in town they wanted to impress. This person told me this was the reason many nurses decided not to strike at all. Please know that this is second hand knowledge and by no means proven to be fact. Its just what I was told, so I thought I'd share. :)

Anybody know when the application for the next rn residency program is coming out? :)

Specializes in Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN).

I have an interview on May 9th for the July residency program at WHC, where I'm applying for a job in either IMC, ED, or Oncology.

I'd appreciate any feedback from RN's who were hired this Spring about their pros/cons about the unit where they're now working.

Also, I notice that some people were presented with case studies during their interview. Can you expand on that? What kind of questions, what unit were you interviewing for? I'm trying to figure out what I should review clinically before the interview.

Congrats to all who found jobs at WHC in this tough economy!

How are you liking it? Sibley seems like a hospital with a close-knit staff. What swayed your decision? Just curious because I am having to decide between the two hospitals now. Thanks!

Hi!im starting the whc residency next week and was wondering if anyone can shed some light on what to expect for it for the dysrhythmia quiz? Thanks!
