0Apr 23, '12 by lindseyhardenstineSince you guys have gone through this process I think you might be able to give me some insight into what I'm about to go through. I'm currently in Charleston, SC and I'm taking my NCLEX in AUGUST. My husband lives in National Harbor, MD and I will be moving up there in August. I'm trying to figure out if I should go ahead and take it herein SC since it is part of the compact states (so I can work in VA/MD) or should I sign up to take it in DC? I'm going to be living in MD but who knows where I will be working. Any suggestions on what I should do, speaking from experience...
0Apr 23, '12 by PolaBar, BSN, RNI'd advise seeing if you can take it in Maryland. Since you'll have to apply to Maryland within 10 or 30 days of moving there anyhow, and you won't be using it in SC. The "Compact State" license is only a "compact" license if you live in the state it is issued (IE live in SC with their license or live in MD with that one), otherwise the license is only good in that particular state. I don't, on the other hand, know anything about how to get licensed in MD through NCLEX, as I got mine through endorsement.
