I just finished orientation at a med-surg IMC unit in Washington Hospital Center (orientation is 3 months, but the residency program is a year with a research/EBP project) and I highly recommend it. I look forward to work. Just coming off orientation, I'm challenged and busy, which makes the time go by fast, but I feel supported by the program and the nurses; it never feels like I don't have help available (important for a new grad!) And of course, I'm learning tons every day :writing:

I think they have a July/August cohort that would fit your May graduation date?

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I hope to get into this program after I graduate this may. Do you mind me asking how much do the pay for new grads at WHC?

Starting is $28 an hour. Weekend is about $5 differential, night is $4.65 I believe. New grads do D/N rotation.

Yes, they do. Many have new graduate programs. Georgetown and WHC have new grad programs fairly consistently/frequently. Search under their job listings for RN positions and new graduate residencies should come up.

I am graduating in June from an ADN program in Michigan.. Looking to relocate to the Baltimore/DC area, does anyone know if any of the hospitals in the area take associate degree new grads for the residency programs?

ang829: Georgetown, George Washington, and MedStar Washington require the BSN, I believe. There are others, but I think that is the trend for the residencies in D.C.; I don't know about Baltimore. I would check each hospital's website.

Inova has a systemwide freeze on ADN/diploma nurses recently. They're trying to renew their magnet status, and management generally looks down on ADN nurses. Blech.
