hello! i'm thinking of applying for licensure in washington DC. do u think it is still necessary to pass the CGFNS before taking the NCLEX exam? because i've heard from my friends that other states doesn't require a CGFNS certificate anymore.

If the state bon does not require CGFNS exam then there is no need to take it. You do however need CES from CGFNS. A couple of states require CGFNS exam, most states require CES and a couple do their own assessments. Regardless on which state you apply initial licensure if you change states to work then you need to comp;ete requirements for foreign trained nurse. If doing CES I would suggest doing the full course. Please have a read in the Internation forum as I am sure you will find plenty of inormation there.

Here is the link I found the information http://hpla.doh.dc.gov/hpla/frames.a...plication2.pdf

Sorry about not being able to answer your question. I'm actually wondering about the same thing. I'll check back here if I find out.
