Virginia Beach Medical Careers Institute Student Diary

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hello, I want to start a daily diary for Medical Career Institute Students. A lot of students would love to hear from students currently participating in the Registered Nursing program. They would love to know the ends and outs of MCI student life. Please feel free to comment on the way your classes went on a certain day. Talk about classes that are challenging or fun. This forum will help motivate incoming students and current students. It helps to know that other students have similar issues or concerns. This is a way to make friends and network. Please provide any anything that will help the new students focus on their studies. Advise of any tutoring sessions that you attended that made a difference in your grades. Talk about study groups they may assist students with failing grades. What type of extracurricular activities does MCI have? Discuss how the students in Lab or clinicals interact with each other. What are the tests like? Please try to comment in the forum at least a couple of times a week. It's always wonderful to be able to speak or chat with other students wth the same career goals. Please let me know if this is something we can keep going for support throughout school and our careers.

I went to MCI and passed the TEAS examination so the admissions advisor recommended that I apply for their registered nursing program. She told me to submit my application and $45 application fee. Then, she advised me to request copies of my college transcripts. She also advised that I register to take chemistry, a computer class and a college algebra class just in case my classes were too old to transfer. The one thing that disappointed me was that they only give you 1-2 week notice that either you are accepted or declined a spot in their day or night nursing program. My advisor was really nice though.

Skip this school and go to a real school, this place is nothing but a business and full of empty promises!

A lot of my co-workers at Sentara Leigh graduated from MCI, I'm a NCP There's about 5 of them on my floor. They all told me that you have to get A's in your pre-reqs, good scores on your TEAS, and you should be fine.

which version of the teas did they make you take? im going down to visit in about a week and want to know which study guide to buy.. any suggestions?

Teas IV

Hi any word on your progress/or already accepted? If not, how are your pre-reqs going? What start date/division are you wanting to apply for?

This is my last week for chem 115 and about half of the class has already dropped out. The later chapters are a bit difficult so finishing all your homework and studying everyday is essential if you want to get an A. Going to be taking College Algebra on July 25.

25 slots- RN day

25 slots- RN night

Hi, are you applying for the August start-date? I hope your classes were not too old to transfer! :)

If you applied for the August start date would you let us know if you get in when they call you....Good Luck! :D

I took the TEAS 4.0.

I decided to take some of the prequisites at at a couple of community colleges to reduce the 41k price. I am taking classes at New Mexico Junior College Online for $334 each per class. They offer chemistry, algebra, English, Anatomy and physiology I&II w/LabPaq, and physics w/labpaq. I am close to my student loan limit.

I know the tuition is killer....40K+. That is a great idea especially if they have any accelerated courses available. Thanks for the info!:)
