Just wondering if anybody is considering TCC... they had two application periods for the fall semester.. december 1st (2011) deadline and march 15 deadline (2012).. im applying in the march group but I know I can't be the only one on the board considering it..

The physical assessment is not as hard as you think. It's really very basic but then again, if you get Ms B for your practicum, she can be a lil picky. But in clinical, the assessment takes about 7 minutes. At first, my class just didn't know what they did and didn't want us to do for the assessment. Ask her to do an assessment on one of your class members so y'all know what she expects. You definitely have to go to open lab and practice at home on your family. O and do her study guides and compare answers with your study groups because she does use a lot of those questions. Med surg is unorganized too. She changed our class time to 2pm the day before class started so I was heated and she kinda just reads her notes word for word but she gave us a study guide and prints everything for us so at least I'm now saving on ink lol.

Well that's good she prints things out for u. Ours waits til the evening after I leave school and I don't have a printer at home so I'm always having to get there early. It was ms d that went over assessment and she didn't know what we were supposed to know for the practicum. I just hope next week ms b is there to go over it. I would be mad too if she changed the schedule at the last minute. My boss wouldn't have gone for that

Is the schedule on the tcc website correct for 170? 2-8pm and 1230:-4:30pm

Yes! It's only the first week though because clinical orientation is the second week and then you start clinicals. At least the SIS is correct for you all because we found out about the afternoon class the day before class started.

Oh ok gotcha, so the first week is the 2-8pm on tues and thur and 1230-430 on Wednesday. But the second week is what we chose on sis when we enrolled? Like I chose a 630-1230 lab time for tues and thur so that should be my schedule for the second week and after right?

If I remember correctly, the second week was orientation on a Tuesday or Thursday so technically we only went to class on Wednesday and then our orientation. What you pick on SIS isn't always accurate. Our clinicals are 12 hours long on either Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday and there's one group who has an evening 2-8 on Tuesdays AND Thursdays.

Edit: Yes you are right about the first week. Tuesday and Thursday 2-8pm Wednesday 12:30-4:30pm

Well one more class almost down! These 8 weeks flew by. And glad because I do not like memorizing drugs! How was med-surg? Was it as tough as everyone says?

You should really do the study guides when she gives them and know fluids and electrolytes. It's the first test and ours was the second week I believe. A lot of info to cram in for that test. A lot of people failed it, including me. But the instructor is lenient, and laid back. But she just reads her power points so you basically teach yourself. Who do you have for clinical? You want to get Ms S for a great clinical experience.

I have RW for lab. I'm going to try to read over eectrolytes before the class starts. It sounds hard.

Hey Virgolove,

I am in cohort 3. Just looking for any suggestions for Pharmacology. How are the tests? Multiple choice? Essay? Short answer? Are they from the book or her notes or her head?

Nobody in our cohort understands the information yet about the clinicals...I'm going to hold tight until it is explained next week. :)

What cohort are you?

Thanks--A

Ski Utah. I'm in cohort 1. We are about to start mother baby. But if I can remember correctly I read the book and took notes on her notes. The tests are multiple choice. She gave study guides I believe. Only one person failed so its not too bad. You should probably ask somebody from cohort 2 because I can't remember too good lol

I would try to read the physical assessment chapter (I believe its ch 30 in the fundamentals book) if you get a chance before the break is over. It is 100 pages long. And also the medication administration chapter was used a lot (ch 35). She gives notes and study guides. Most of the tests followed by what her study guides were on, so I would def do them. It helps a lot. The clinicals start the last 3 weeks of class.
