Tidewater Community College May 2010 acceptance letters?

U.S.A. Virginia

i just wanted to start a thread so that we can let each other know when we start getting acceptance letters. this is a very s...l...o...w...time waiting through june, possibly july to find out how to schedule the rest of the year!

got an email response back from dr ****. she said,

"if you applied for early admission and your gpa was less than 3.5, we will look at your application again in may."

i have to admit i am a bit annoyed.i guess this means we have to wait until the summer for a response either way. i am not holding my breath and will be applying to other schools.

thanks for the heads up mcolliver. i really wish that they would have told early admission applicants that they needed a 3.5 or above to get considered for early acceptance. i'm hla that i have stressed over it for so long and come to find out they haven't even looked at my application. i'm very annoyed at this point. thanks again for letting us know.

I agree. I don't know what kind of a process they have, but it is one of the most unorganized and confusing processes I have seen. Im getting to the point where I don't know that I care, I am just kicking myself for not applying elsewhere and now all the deadlines have passed for other schools.

Hey everyone, I'm so sorry for being MIA for the last few weeks but a lot of things have been giong on so I apologize. A couple of days ago I went to Portsmouth to speak face to face with two woman in the nursing office. First of all I am going to state that I've never had anyone be more rude to me in my life... I was told that Cohort 1 is completely full already and Cohort 2 is near halfway full. They also said so many people that applied have between 3.6 and 4.0 GPAs and most likely if your GPA is a 3.5 or below you might want to apply elsewhere. I was ALSO told that if one is denied, THOSE DENIAL LETTERS won't be sent out till possibly the end of May, June... She asked me what my full name was. I told her and her response was, "Yea, you don't ring a bell at all. You might want to apply somewhere else." I personally have a 3.5 CUM GPA. I put my application in the first week of October. I have applied to other schools since then. I seriously thought to myself, you know even if I am accepted in May for whatever reason, I don't even know if I want to be associated with this program anymore. I wanted to give them a chance so bad. I'm not even trying to complain, but the level of professionalism was something that I am greatly disappointed with. Ladies, I know this sucks big time having to go through all this.

I am considering writing a letter of complaint to the Dean of Students and the Dean of the nursing program. There is no reason when applying early admission I should not have a response letter back. Its unorganized and you aren't the first person I have heard of being treated poorly.

Also, Thomas Nelson has a nursing program. If you want to try and get in for this school year you can apply to start in January but that is at the Williamsburg campus. Applications will be available in September. TCC isn't the only nursing program in this area.

wow, i can't believe that they were so rude to you!! i'm still amazed that they haven't responded to any of us. if they don't intend on letting us in then they should let us know!!! i applied to thomas nelson as well and i took the teas test a week ago. i met the ladies that ran the rn program at thomas nelson (since they administered the test) and they were so nice!!!!! they told everyone that they will be taking the whole month of april to decide who they were letting in the program and that they will be sending out acceptance/denial letters. they even told us to call them if we do not receive anything by may 1st. funny how they don't mind us calling them but the people at tcc act like you are giving them the plague if you step foot in their office. whatever, i no longer want to attend tcc's program, i can see nothing but negativity coming from the people in charge and that is not where i want to learn. good luck to you ladies and please consider thomas nelson. they have the same accreditation as tcc and they seem more organized and professional. i will be writing a letter to the dean of tcc as well to complain, enough letters should make an impact i hope.

im glad to hear tncc is much better. i didn't think i could apply because i hadn't taken the teas yet. i heard about the program in time to apply but not enough time to take the test. (im new to the area, so im not familiar with all the schools) the deadline has passed, right? i guess i'll just wait until next year. it's ok. i've waited this long, what is another year. can you tell me if it is true that they look at the gpa of your pre-reqs? how was the teas? its the first i have ever heard of the test and im not sure what to expect and what score they are looking for?

I went to the counselor office about the acceptance letters and was told that this is what most people experience. I drove from VA Beach to ask about the courses and semesters. The female who spoke with me told me since I attended the nursing information session then I shouldn't have any other questions. I applied in Nov 2010, I have a 4.0 GPA. I was considering going to ODU, but they have additional requirements for applying and the coursework would take another year for me to complete. I talked to ODU admin assistant in the nursing office, she said while the program cutoff GPA is 3.5 they have enough applicants that 3.8 was the lowest GPA admitted. The acceptance letter required that if you were accepting their provisional admittance that you respond in writing before March 18. My acceptance letter included the information for Cohort 1 & 2, I was told they were already filled and they would keep those early apps who didn't get in these cohorts until the May deadline and you could possibly get into cohort 3&4. Good luck

Hi mcolliver,

Yes, the deadline has passed for the program at the Hampton campus but not the Williamsburg campus. The TEAS test is pretty easy, just buy the study book online http://www.atitesting.com and really read through it and you should do fine. The program looks for your GPA based on pre-req's and they are looking for a passing score above the 45 percentile for the TEAS test. The national average for the test is in the 65 percentile. Let me know if you have any other questions:)

Hi Ambular127! Thanks for the info and sorry for taking so long to reply. Im glad the TEAS is easy. From what I could find online it seemed a bit intimidating as I havent seen some of the material since high school. Do you take the test at TNCC or do you have to go to a testing center?

Well it looks like yesterday was the deadline to turn in applications! I am looking forward to seeing:w00t: "I got accepted" and "congratulation" post from everyone very soon.

I am now a student Registered Nurse!!!!! I got my acceptance call on May 19 for the LPN to RN Bridge program. My overall GPA is a 3.35 and my GPA for this last semester was a 4.0 ( I was taking A&P II and Eng 112). I want to post this for all of those TCC nursing hopefuls who are worried that they will not get accepted into the nursing program. I am looking forward to hearing from others and if anyone has any question feel free to PM me!:dancgrp:
