Shadowing tomorrow in the NICU!

U.S.A. Virginia

I am so excited about the opportunity Riverside School of Health Careers offers! I will be allowed to shadow graduates of their nursing program for a total of 24 hours. Tomorrow I will spend 4 hours in the NICU, and after that I will try another area. This is a great way to see what the day to day job entails, much more realistic than say Grays Anatomy. I am sooo excited!

How did you shadowing experience go?

It was amazing! I am going to shadow in the emergency department next week too!

LOL... Don't mention Grey's Anatomy in an ER unless you want to see lots of eye rolling. ;-) Seriously, enjoy it! Be a sponge.

LOL I only mentioned it once (in the NICU), I found it funny they all had Gray's Anatomy tags on their scrubs... the RN laughed and told me it is a comfy brand. She was right, I went to the store today and tried them on, very comfy! I just hope they wash well.

That is hilarious! :) But she's right -- they are comfortable, and were one of the first brands that started to really make scrubs in different cuts, i.e., realizing that we're not all square-shaped!

My longest-lasting scrubs, hands down, are my Dickies. I have some of the same scrubs that I've worn since I started working in an ER in 2005. Granted, I haven't had much opportunity to wear them the last couple of years because we wear our Army uniforms in my ER, but they are still in fantastic shape. I'm 4'11" and I love the Dickies hip-flip cargo pants in petite! They actually fit.

Today I was in the ED, it was awesome!

Yay! Glad you enjoyed it. :)
