Riverside School of Health Careers RN program

U.S.A. Virginia

Hello everyone!

I am looking for current, past, and even prospective students for Riverside's RN program. I will be applying for the September 2013 professional nursing program. For current or past students, what was your GPA and teas score? Also how was the program, instructors, clinicals? I did attend the last open house in December and I was hoping that a student or recent grad would be there to talk about their experience. I love how the instructors seem to be really supportive and the small campus also appealed to me. To other prospective students what start date are you applying to and do you have any other nursing/healthcare experience? Any advice or other information on the program is greatly appreciated!

Hi all, I am new to this site and is interested in attend Riverside. I have heard many good things about the school and want to know what's your personal experiences like...kelzfuturenurse, Domjo8 & hgt219. Can't wait to hear from you all!!!!

I love the school and teachers!! It's a really great program

Thx for the quick response!!!! What about the work load? Is this program 1.5 yrs or 2?

How many days out of the wk do u all have lecture vs clinical? Thanks again!!!!

It is a 2 year program (6, 13 week terms). I am in level 2 right now, but for level 1 you have class Monday-Thursday and clinical every other Friday once they start. For level 2 we have class Monday-Thursday and then clinical every Friday once they start. I have heard that for levels 3-6 clinicals are on Wednesdays and Thursdays so you would have class the other days I would assume. Level 6 you have your preceptorship so that would actually probably be a bit different

Hgt219, thx so much!! I'm excited already!!!!! I would imagine that it's a lot of reading huh?

how often are you quizzed? We are military and plan on moving from Honolulu to Norfolk area soon so I'm just

planning a head now. Is this program very stressful? I ask bc I have plenty of relatives who were once

in the nursing program (not this one) and they were always stressed, bad attitude, irritable, lol... You get the point, lol. Is

this program more hands on seeing that it's a diploma vs degree? I know that every one varies but how long do you spend

studying? Thanks again!!!!!!

Yes the instructors and other faculty are awesome! They are sincere about wanting us to succeed and I've had a great experience so far.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm so excited!!!

So what is a typical week for you... As it regards to school.?Thanks for taking the time out to respond. ?

We have pathophysiology lecture Monday morning, pharmacology lecture Tuesday and Wednesday mornings and lab on Thursday afternoon, health assessment lecture Tuesday afternoons with lab on Wednesday afternoon, diet therapy Thursday mornings, then Fridays we have clinical half of the class goes to pharm clinical and the other half health assessment. I have my last pharm clinical this Friday and my last health assessment next Friday ?. We are almost finished with our second term, time is really flying by!

No problem hun! Are you applying for this fall start or January 2015?

Yes, I plan to start next yr due to the fact that we are still on Honolulu & won't be leaving until later on this year. I also have been looking at Sentara because they offer the BSN. So I might end up applying for both....are you familiar with Sentara? Thanks again!!!!:-)

Oh ok. I don't know much about Sentara's program, I've heard it is good though! Very competitive! My plan is to go to their first open house for next yr because I would like to do their RN-BSN and I know there are some pre-reqs I will need to take. But GL to you and keep in touch!
