I know that NOVA has an RN return to practice course ... depending on where in the Northern VA area you are, that might be a viable option after you actually take the boards. The medical education campus is in Springfield, just off of 495/95 and past the mall. If you go to http://www.nvcc.edu/medical/continuing/alphalist.asp just look under the "R" section for the "Registered Nurse (RN) Return to Practice" course. It's expensive, but a lot of it is web-based, which is nice.

But because that's only for people who already have their RNs, maybe you should look at one of those NCLEX courses ... or pick up the Saunders NCLEX-RN book and start studying! ;D I bet a lot of the information would come right back to you with review.

Is there a time limit after graduation during which you must test, or are you still eligible? Where did you go to school?

I graduated from east stroudsburg university in PA. I just recently move to va so im not completely sure if it differs state to state. if im not eligible to take the exam what would be my options?

I have no clue! I think in Virginia you need an Authorization To Test (ATT) before you can take the NCLEX. You might want to contact the nursing program at East Stroudsburg Uni and ask them what you should do ... I'm sure you're not the first who has had a delay between graduation and the NCLEX! Someone else on allnurses might have more info for you, though.

I'll move this to the Virginia Forum for you. You might also check out some of the threads in the NCLEX Discussion Forum. You can get there by clicking on the Students tab near the top of the page. Good luck to you!

Hi,

I graduated in Jan 2008 and still waiting for my ATT. Do not worry about when you took the course , just registered with KAPLAN and review the course. I registered with kAPLAN and I am reviewing now, I am sure I will pass the exam in April.

Good luck

how was your program at ESU

I passed my boards a couple of months ago. The NCLEX is the toughest test I have taken my entire life.I suggest the Kaplan Review course... I personally could not afford it, so I had about 6-8 review books instead. Good luck!

It's not that bad if you paid attention. Take a review course (call your instructor to find out which). The one I took was supposedly better than Kaplan. I didn't get any wrong-but then they do it differently now. I'd definitely be doing school now given the job shortage.
