I'm sorry you're having a hard time...the job market just really sucks right now.

Have you tried skilled nursing facilities, rehab and LTC? I look in the classifieds at these places and see wanted ads for LPNs and CNAs left and right.

What meriwhen said.

And tell them you'll take nights.

I have applied to all those places LTC,skilled care, rehab, and no one is calling and I have 19years experiance what am I doing wrong despirate:cry:

I don't know.

Where do you live? Why did you leave the last job? Are you asking for specific dollars?

I am living in Ohio, willing to accept any thing within reason, wanted out of New York after the break-up of my marriage, need a new start

If you haven't tried this, get a reallt nice resume done printed up on nice paper.

Get dressed up in a nice, conservative suit.

Hit all the of LTC's you can on a Tuesday (DONs are overwhelmed on Mondays) in person and ask if the DON is available.

You will have a job within a couple of weeks. I guarantee.

It does help. Most of the interviews I got were on-the-spot ones: I just showed up at the place during their slow times (don't go anywhere near a shift change (e.g., 7am or 3pm)), dressed to interview and with copies of my resume, license and certifications in hand.

RN's are having the same problem. I am a new grad, and cannot find a position anywhere, so I feel your pain.

im sorry, i live in ohio as well, akron area. Im going through the same thing as well as some of my classmates. one of them was told that if you walked into an LTC a year and a half ago, you could get a job in 5 minutes, but with the economy its a buyers market. its not what anyone wants to hear, but be persistent, keep calling and reiterating your interest and availability. although, im sure you have. for those of you that said go to LTC, they arent hiring new grads either, what a shame too! Did you know that Ohio has the most LTC facilities only 3rd in the US to Texas and California, but yet one of the worst job markets for LPNs:(

Right now is prime time for shot clinics! Hit up your home care agencies. They seem to always be looking for shot clinic nurses. Also, try home care. Some will require you to be a nurse for a year, but usually for visits. You can usually get "shift" work in home care. Also, as other suggested, dress up as nice as you can. I worked in HR in homecare and that's what I liked to see. Don't come in scrubs, and don't come with a generic resume, it will get tossed in the trash. How you present yourself when applying is how we presume you will present yourself on the job. There are places that will assist you in correcting errors on your resume, and also give that extra "shine"!

I live in Ohio as well, I am in the Cincinnati area. I could name off at least 5 jobs off of the top of my head for entry level LPN's. Are you able to travel down to this area at all? Understandable if you can't, but if you can PM me and I will most definitely give you names and numbers. You're desperate, and they're desperate for you down here! Good luck!

just keep on trying.its a matter of luck and persistence that counts. i've proven that.dont loose hope ok. cheer up//////
