Anyone out there applying to the RN program at the Virginia Beach MCI campus? My older sister just graduated from MCI and has already landed her first job! The wait to see if I am accepted or not is absolutely killing me. Anyone else???

I have question: I took the TEAS and my scores weren't in the 90's, but they were all passing (I wasn't aware I was going to have to take it during my first meeting so I was unprepared). My adviser said she wanted to get an idea of where I was before getting prepared instead of after I had time to study. I'm a little freaked out I don't have a shot of getting in if my scores aren't in the 90's and can't retake it because I passed (I know I can do better). I've asked her about it twice and she tells me I'm competitive. Does anyone know anything about this?
i was just accepted into the night class and i start in may. my teas scores were science-70, and the others i got like all 85s.
my scores i believe were on the lower half, but they were alright.
i got all high A's in the pre-reqs, and i think i did pretty well on the essay and letters of recommendation.
i think one of the main things is to get an A in your classes there. It shows that you can handle the fast curriculum, and they say you only need an 80, but thats to be even looked at. You have to remember that your fighting a LOT of other people for your spot.
Kick butt in your classes, turn in an amazing essay and letters, and really let them get a good sense of you in your interview. Im sure youll do great!

Thanks so much for the advice! Are you allowed to post what the interview is like? I've never done an official interview for an academic program so I'm not sure what to expect.

I am going to MCI for the Chemistry class in May. I am nervous and excited. I applied for the August RN program but was told if I didn't make it in, because there are only 50 students selected, that I would have a guaranteed spot in the Aug LPN program. I am not sure how true that is but those words came from the mouth of my adviser. I have also applied to TCC RN program for Aug, I find out if I made it there in July. I just want to know if anyone else will be in the Chemistry class starting May 9th, oh yea, day time classes.
Look forward to your responses

If they tell you that the LPN program is your only available option, I would apply to an LPN program through the public school system which is about 4K-5K a lot cheaper than MCI. Your other option would be Riversides LPN program which is about 12K. Sentara doesn't offer an LPN program though. I would say strive for an "A" in your prerequisites, find a good study partner, and do good on your interview with the nursing director. MCI is trying to make sure they stay accredited so they will probably pick the people that eager and hardworking.
i guess i can say that during the interview, just know what to say if someone asked you why you wanna be a nurse. Be very confident. From what ive learned from other girls that i talk to, they never ask the same questions.
just be yourself
yes. I have a 2 year old daughter, and with her schedule, going to night classes is perfect for me. I think its pretty even when it comes to the difficulty of getting in nights or days. there are a lot of people who want nights because of work, or children. If you have the type of schedule that you could do days, i would do that. The clinical hours i've heard are way better.
I was thinking about the the RN Night program as well. The only thing I didn't like was how you have to go just about everyday and weekend. It seems like it would be difficult.
Congrats to everyone- please come back and let us know how everything goes!
well, if you can do days, i would do days. To tell you the truth though, i like doing night classes better.Thats just me though. Everone has their own opinion. its nice to be able to do your work during the day before your class, and your not all tired from waking up early. :)
regardless, youre gonna be married to MCI for the next year and a half. Its so worth it though.
Good Luck!!

So who all is going to be in class @ the VB campus tomorrow morning? I'm excited to start nursing school allllll over again :) Come prepared...it's going to be the hardest year and a half you've had in a long time ladies! I am so ready!
Day/Night classes....I've done both. I prefer night classes 1, because I am wide awake during those hours 2, it seems less stressful than days - BUT the main reason I chose days over nights is weekend clinicals! It is not fun going to clinical on a weekend! Haha, so I am starting out with days again....it's just nice looking forward to a little 2 day 'break'.
How is everyone's classes coming along? Did everyone pass their weekly quizzes?
