Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum, i am a nursing student at SLCC and am going to graduate in may. I was wondering what hospital is the best to work at as a new grad. I know that it is important to find a good teaching hospital as I have heard. Is there any hospitals up in the Layton Oden are that anybody would recommend. And by the way does school get a little easier in the last couple semesters?

Hi Legacy STaffing starts new grad RNs at $30 and up...call them they are awesome to work for (801)553-9365..They would even be willing to go out to your class and talk to you about opportunities available to you with their company..email me if you want to [email protected]

A word of caution: while agencies are great places to work- and I hear Legacy is the best, they are not for new grads. You cannot have the experience you need to be a proper advocate and caregiver for your patients as a new grad. It's impossible. Agencies send you to several new facilities in a month and those places expect you to know what you are doing and are not willing to train you. You will be DNR (Do Not Rescend) before you know it. I recommend the University of Utah. They have great benefits, tons of areas to choose from, and a number of internships for new grads. Do that for a year, which is what most agencies want, and you will be grateful that you did. On the other hand, if you just want the money then go with an agency. You'll be frustrated and ready to leave nursing within 6 months, but at least they will be 6 well paid months.

I did a few clinical shifts on the womens floor at Davis hospital in Layton. I was impressed by the staff there. I did my precepting on their Med/Surg floor. Loved it as well. So if Layton is where you're looking, Davis isn't a bad choice. I just started at McKay in Ogden. So far it has gone well. Not far from Layton. If you want to work in a bigger hospital, go to Mckay. If you want a community hospital feel, go to Davis. And I second the post above. Working agency before you have at least one year experience is not the best thing for your career, unless you like livin on the edge.
