I am wondering that same thing. I would like to apply. I have not taken Literature or Technical Writting or Intro to Nursing. Although I do have a master's degree and I went to Nursing school at TTU but had to drop out 75% way through.

I went ahead and made application for the actual program starting in Sept. I am currently enrolled in Technical writing (starting 2/11) and Introduction to Prof Nrsg (starting 4/11). I will take Pharm and Path together in May.

I was able to get more info on the program from my AP contact person, as well as, the UTA nrsg advisor that is handling my file. I am very excited at the possibility of getting into this program. I'm most impressed because of how fast the program is and how it's structured and the fact that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, like other fast track programs.

**I was surprised that noone else responded...I was hoping to hear from others who had also applied??? Anyone???!!!!

Hi everyone,

I am currently in the UTA AP BSN Program and just got admitted into the program for the Spring 2011 Term. This is a very accelerated and intense program. Time Management is CRUCIAL in order to succeed.

As for clinical, the nursing coordinator will place you in a partnered hospital for you to gain the hands on experiences and learn more effectively. This is definitely a great nursing program to consider and have a BA in another field is definitely a plus when it comes to determining the future nursing students.

Kat...thanks for replying! Congrats on being accepted!!! :)

Can you tell me alittle more about the technical writing, into to prof nrsg, path and pharm classes...did you find them extremely difficult and how did you take the tests? I'm signed up to start technical writing on the 28th.

Did you have to personally interview to be accepted into the program? If so, how was the interview? How long after interviewing did it take to find out if you were accepted?

Do you know what hospital you will be assigned to yet? How many hospitals participate with this program? Do you know if your clinicals are structured so that you work the hours your preceptor works? Ex: if she/he is scheduled (3) 12 hr shifts for that week, then you also do (3) 12 hr shifts.

I know I have alot of questions..sorry! Just trying to get as much information as possible.

Helllooo!

YES, no problem! I was in your shoes at one point in time. Okay, I will tell you exactly what I did with some of my pre-reqs and not many people know about this little secret. I took the technical writing course online enrolled to El Centro College. I also did the same exact thing and registered at EL CENTRO COLLEGE for my Pharmacology & Pathophysiology courses. The three previously mentioned nursing pre-reqs DOES transfer to UTA-College of Nursing. Not only does that save me money, but I was guaranteed to make A's in those classes because it was taught from a community college. Intro. to Nurs. is the ONLY COURSE that i was required to take at UTA. I heard the Pharmacology & Pathophysiology courses at UTA was almost impossible to make an A, BUT I can say that I made all A's and was extremely happy with getting accepted into the UTA AP BSN Program.

As for your question about being interviewed? The UTA College of Nursing stopped the whole interview process, so you dont have to worry about being interviewed.

I am partnered with Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, which I am really excited about. You will be assigned to a hospital about 2 or 3 weeks before the first day of nursing school. Yes, there are many partnered hospitals and would have to say that there is a total of 12 or 14 altogether. I have clinical labs twice a week and each day is almost 11 hours long. I was assigned Saturday & Sunday from 7am to 5/6pm. It kinda of sucks cuz it happened to fall on a weekend but was told that I will get assigned new days in the next term of courses.

Hi Tejaa,

I took technical writing online at uta with Gerik, and it wasn't hard at all, however it does require a little time planning. Just do your reading assignments and keep up with the schedule and plan your weeks out. When I took it last year I believe it was a 5 week course, but I think its an 8 week course now. I also took Intro to Professional Nursing and made an "A". I wish I'd known about Patho and Pharmacology being accepted from El Centro, I would have registered and taken it this spring there, because its much cheaper.

I applied for the Fall 2011 Entry and hope to be accepted. Good luck! :yeah:

The case load is not that bad, just have to keep up with discussion board posts and theres a group project.

Yes, there are several writing assignments. They make it pretty simple because you type right onto the document online and can save it until later and submit when finished.
