Hi, I am hoping someone here can give me advice on course seletction for January. I am currently enrolled in Professional Nursing B and Pols 2312 (Texas Govt). The Pols class is more work than I expected, but it is going well. We have 5 tests and I am trying to take them in advanced to make my schedule easier in December when I will finally start my first nursing job. My course map lists Holistic Health Assessment and an Upper Division Nursing elective for January. Can someone please tell me what they thought of these classes? So far all the work has been busy but manageable, but I am nervous how hard it will be when I am working. (I have a very busy family life that also takes a lot of time). However, I worry if I don't double up the whole process will drag out forever!

Any advice would be appreciated!

Can you take two nursing classes at the same time? I'm registered for Holistic health beginning on 2/27. Then Health promotion on 4/9.

My understanding is that you can take two nurses classes at the same time. I have not tried to register for them yet, but I do not see why it would be an issue. I think they key is looking at the schedule because not every course is offered each time. My plan has always been to double up but if I do that I won't have any breaks since the 8 week pre-req courses overlap the nursing classes. I hope someone can chime in with advice on the future nurses classes, in particular which ones are better to take on their own.

Good luck starting! I think you will be happy with the program.

Thanks. That would definitely make things go quicker. I might consider it in the summer. As a new nurse I'm not sure I want to tackle 2 nursing classes in 5 weeks until I get a better handle on family, working, school. I'm just starting this semester.

I have Math 1308 and Nurs 3645A for the fall and Nurs 3645B first 5 weeks of Spring. After that I only have the 7 nursing classes and the 2 electives (which look to be work related) to complete. If I could double up a nursing class once or twice I would definitely finish next fall..Thanks for the food for thought...:D

I have taken 4 nursing classes and enrolled in the 5th one now. So far the most difficult was Care of the Vulnerable populations!!! It was very intense and we all spent hours researching on community health topics and the quizzes were not fun either but it is doable. Prof Nursing A & B was fun and so was Care of the older adults. Ill have to add that the general ed classes are very detailed especially hist 1311 and 1312, 1311 was quite confusing to most students but after a couple of weeks, you'll get the hang of it, making 1312 quite easy. I believe you could take 2 nursing classes at a time but check with your advisor if any doubts. I have been doubling up with 1 general ed and 1 nursing class but as mentioned above, they overlap and it could get quite tiring, especially if you work fulltime. So far, I love UTA but can't wait to finish!

Thanks for the thoughts on the Nursing classes. Fortunately I don't have to take any additional class except the Math 1308. Once I feel comfortable I might ask my advisor about doubling up classes. Good Luck

Thanks for the advice. I am in Texas Govt now (2312) and so far it is good. I have been trying to get ahead on the tests so that December will be easier for me. Maybe when I take Care of Vulnerable populations I will take a gen ed class instead of a nursing one. Of the three I have left: U.S. Govt, Art Appreciation, Literature, does anyone think one was easier than the rest?

In my opinion, U.S Govt was quite easy. You just listen to the lectures and take notes, some bunch of online homework I believe and a comprehensive final. Don't know about Literature and Art appreciation as I took them before UTA. How is the TX govt class? Is it tough? Not sure cos I am not in the state of TX so Im kind of wondering what it is all about. Thanks!

I am in California so I had limited understanding of Texas politics. The class has 5 online exams, 1 discussion post each week with the required 2-3 responses, a short power point project (crazy easy) and a five page paper. I have taken 2 exams and they were fine. I took lots of notes from the readings and the practice tests and did well. I have not started the paper yet. Tons of students take this class because high school can also take it to receive credit. I swear I can tell which posts are written by nurses and which by high school students. I am trying to wrap up the class early, so I am doing more work each week than required. Because of this is feels pretty busy.

hey rntriathlete! (or anyone else if you know)

i am really interested in this online program and i noticed that you are from ca too. are there any clinicals that we would have to do for the program even though we already have our rn license? :)
