    ScarletFire,
I have a Mac (desktop & laptop). Works like a dream on Epic and Blackboard. You just need Microsoft Office if you don't have it already.
    amyrnfa,

Thank you so much for your post! I have a brand new MacBook Pro which I purchased specifically for this purpose, plus an iMac desktop which I've had since 2008. (I travel occasionally to see family, so I bought the laptop so I could keep up with the classes). Of course, I have MS Office on both as well. I'm so glad to know I don't have to buy a new computer now. Do you think I will have any difficulty sending papers? It doesn't sound like you did. I'm asking because the instructions for submitting course work looks like it is designed for a PC. I'm starting Prof Nursing A on Monday.

    Scarletfire,
My MacBook Pro works great and yes, all instructions for each class are in PC format. Just save your work and make sure you do not submit blank assignments. Most of the assignments are "write on" and not student created. Remember, PC owners seem to have a lot of extra steps in saving and formatting documents

    amyrnfa,

Since I haven't done any assignments yet, I don't really understand what you are saying, so I apologize now if I'm asking stupid questions. What is "write on" and can I write my papers on MS Word and then attach it somehow in order to send? I have PERRLA downloaded already which I really hope I can use so that APA formatting will be somewhat easy. I just can't picture how all this is going to work and I don't want to make a stupid mistake, such as sending a blank document. Can you be more specific? I'm not too computer savvy. Nice to know you are a fellow Mac user. I absolutely love my MacBook, BTW.

Sorry about that.. "Write on" means the document is already done and you just fill in the blanks or boxes. You do not create a new word document, it's already done. You just download the word document already created, write on it (fill in the info asked for) and save it. I don't know if PERRLA works on just blank docs or ones someone else creates. I think they really want you to figure out APA on your own and that maybe why they already created the file for you. You will get to create your own document sometimes, but for the most part, she has already done it for you. Just open some of your assignments and take a look. You will figure out how you want to organize it all as you go.
You can pm me if you get confused.
    It Will Be Fine!!

    Amy,
I think I know what you mean now. Your info is really helpful. If this is the case re: "write on" docs, I won't be able to avail myself of the merits of PERRLA, since, in order to use it you have to start w/ a blank Word doc. That's too bad, but not the end of the world. Someone here posted that she used PERRLA all the time for these classes and it worked really well, so maybe as we progress in the program, we will have the opportunity to start papers from scratch. I am still nervous about all of this, so yes, I will PM you probably later in the week if that is ok. Prof A starts tomorrow. I am sending you a BIG thank-you for all of your help.

Add me to the list starting Prof Nursing A on 8/13. This will be my first class at UT-A (all pre-reqs complete) and first time using Epic . . . finding it a bit confusing but hoping as we go along it will get easier. I have the same fear about submitting blank documents! Already sent in my Attestation & Self-Eval form. Fingers crossed I did it correctly. Liking the fact that we don't really have any required texts outside of the APA guide!

Wow do I feel dumb. Having a hard time finding articles for our role transition assignment due Monday. Long time since I have had to library for research. Have tried to go to library site and select nursing data bases then select full text. Then in search box I type in role transition RN to BSN. Maybe that is too many words? Any suggestions. Lord, if I can't do this..... I won't get discouraged!! Also, when we summarize an article do we have to include any citations. Can we say things like the article suggests..... , etc., etc.
