How is this even possible?

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

So, it looks as if UTA is missing one of my transcripts. The funny thing about this is that I sent official transcripts from two institutions in the SAME envelope and had them mailed overnight on 1/10. They arrived on 1/11, which I know because I mailed them certified and required a signature, yet somehow one of the two transcripts is missing.

To add insult to injury, the school with the missing transcript is horrible to deal with administratively and procuring another transcript would be a lengthy/obnoxious process.

Anyone been in a similar situation? I contacted my admissions specialist to see if he could shed any light on this as I'm totally confused as to how it went missing.

Thanks!

MBrickle,

anything is possible w/ UTA. I had a problem with the envelope ostensively containing my transcripts containing merely a piece of paper with my name and degree conferred with date, but NO classes or grades listed. It was my former school's problem, not UTA's, but it did cause me some trouble to get it sent again. After I had it correctly sent a second time, UTA received it and then informed me that since it was for a Master's degree, none of the classes would count. Apparently since this is a BSN degree program, they do not consider any graduate-level classes. I certainly understand that and had no problem with it, but it would have been nice if they hadn't insisted I contact the school again and have another (real one, this time) sent to them. I asked about that and they said, something like, yeah, but they have to know every class or degree we've ever received for their records, or some such thing.

I feel your pain. My advice to you is dive right back into the horrible obnoxious process of transcript procurement immediately rather then waste time trying to have someone help you determine what happened to the missing transcript. consider it dead and gone.

nice chatting with you. I wish you all the best. let me know if i can be of any assistance to you later on when the pain and suffering really begins.:D

Haha, thanks for the pep talk :-)

So much for precious sleep after my night shift tomorrow....I'll be ready to fight with the administration at my old school about leaving with a transcript in- hand and not dealing with their 2-week nonsense!

What a headache! I have read similar threads about UTA and lost/missing transcripts. I agree with Scarlet, get working on sending a new transcript right away. Did you contact admissions at UTA? Just wondering who told you your transcript was missing. If you're going only by myMav, all hope may not be lost. They are very slow to update that system. Keep us updated.

Yes I was going by MyMav and am hoping a lack of updating is the case! Just trying to be proactive about it....I'm so anxious to start and hopefully increase my job opportunities around here that all my patience is lost! Thanks for the encouragement!

MBrickle,

one more thing i forgot to suggest: get 2 official transcripts and keep 1 for yourself. you keep it sealed and if something bad occurs later, you send that in....fedex overnight.

Thanks! Of course now that I have applied I haven't heard from my admissions specialist, nor did I get a return phone call from the school I need to get a new transcript from. Ugh!

Update: So, I made the wise decision to actually call UTA before I sprinted out of bed, bleary-eyed from only sleeping for 4 hours after a night shift, and making my way to my old community college in -6000 degree weather...anddddddd they HAVE both of my transcripts! As of 1/22 both have been received and are being processed so that UTA can "work towards and admissions decision."

PHEW! Arguing with my old CC was surely something I didn't feel up to today.

The lady I spoke with said my account was last updated on 1/22 to reflect that both of the transcripts have been received...yet it's been three days and MyMav hasn't been updated....oh well.

That's a relief! I bet you will get a transfer evaluation soon. And try not to worry about myMav too much. They are slow to update that system.

Great! I'm glad things worked out for you. Don't worry, you will get in and you should hear back definitively soon. Then, you can join us for class talk :D

I'm glad I saw your post! It has been such a headache trying to get my transcripts updated there! I have had the same one sent twice and it mysteriously keeps disappearing so I'm going to try again Monday for a third time. I just really hope they get it together before my file gets evaluated for the nursing program.
