Trustaff vs American Mobile

Hi all! I am planning on traveling for the first time in June and I am torn between Trustaff and American Mobile? Experiences? Advice?

I had the WORST experience with TruStaff. Signed the contract. Then they kept canceling me. And they wanted to switch my hospital to one over 2 hours away and got mad when I said no. They wouldn't pay me the minimum hours per my contract and when I demanded it they dropped my contract without even telling me. I was pregnant and alone in Texas with no money or a way home.

I wouldn't trust any agency based in Cincinnati (and I'm from the area). American Mobile is the largest agency around with all that implies: more resources and assignments than any other agency, and lower pay.

In any case, you should not be torn between any two agencies. You need to talk to lots, figure out which recruiters communicate best with you and are credibly trustworthy, and pick the best five for more exploration, and to have a Plan B and Plan C if Plan A doesn't work out. That cannot be possible with only two agencies.

New traveler? Do you need lots of handholding? Prefer best money? Best service? These are other variables worth considering. Asking us about just two agencies you are considering cannot result in a valid answer. Even Trustaff has long term happy travelers, these choices always end up being personal.

Agree with NedRN. I know a few nurses that are very happy with American Mobile. I used them before but find them to have the lowest pay rates. I attempted several times to work with TruStaff and it never panned out. My advice be very cautious and read contracts at least 10 times before signing!

I'm with an American Mobile company. I wouldn't say the pay rate is great, but it's the norm in the LA area. There are several travel nurses from different companies at the same hospital and almost every one (including me) brings in extra money on the housing stipend instead of taking their housing. You have some wiggle room to negotiate there. I would say go with the recruiter you love because I really trusted my initial recruiter. Unfortunately he left and I'm now on my third recruiter (3 within 5 months)

There is definitely something to say about a company that can't keep staff. Just like hospitals who need travel staff.
