I personally have not run across American nurses working in Paris. But, I have heard the that Ogrady-Peyton does international assignments. Not sure what they mean by international, but see what they have to say.

Do a search on O'Grady Peyton here. They are known to lie to nurses. I know of some one who was very badly treated by them.
By internatinal positions, I think they mean they bring nurses from other countries to the US. That is what they are most known for.

I had looked into this at one point. Recieved a letter from the French Nursing Board, you are acceptable if you are fluent in French.

there is a thread in the International forum that explains requirements for working as a RN in France. You must be fluent in French but be aware if not from a EU country you may have problems getting a work permit.
