permanent tax residence?

I'm filling out forms for my first travel assignment. Included is one for "permanent tax residence" that I may sign. I have no idea what this means. I'm from PA and do plan to take traveling assignments out west. My permanent address will be my family's home. I don't own property.

Someone, please, tell me what this form means & how to know if I should fill it out.

Thanks!

So after more research, I have a better understanding. I think....

Since I'll be living in agency housing & not frequently visiting & not paying for my home away from home, I don't qualify for this. So I will then be taxed on whatever the agency pays for my housing & travels.

Right????

That's pretty much right. Your agency should be able to supply you with some guidelines as to what constitutes a "tax home". You are correct that it is different than just a legal residence. There's a good site for reference on tax issues for travelers - Traveltax.com

Great! Thanks so much :-)
