New Travel RN, looking for advice on companies

Hello everyone! I've been recently looking into becoming a travel RN. I know a friend from college who did travel nursing and have the name of a company recommendation from her, but I've read a few posts that advise potential travelers to talk to multiple companies so they can get the best contract deal.

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of travel nurse companies that they would recommend?? First, I'll be looking to get a position in the Midwest, as I still have a few months left on my current lease of my house. After that I'm looking to travel on the West Coast - specifically NoCal area, maybe Oregon or Washington as well? Any thoughts on good companies to look into would be appreciated. (Yes, I've also heard that the company isn't everything, it also depends on your recruiter too....but just looking for a few good names). :jester:

re: new travel rn, looking for advice on companies

you are new and i can tell your heart is in the right place so im be nice too.. however with everything you have just typed why are you even asking about all of these other companies? seriously, what is up?

tango - here is my answer. nothing is "up." i'm not currently "asking" about "all of these other companies." i didn't ask anything in my last post. i simply stated some companies who have been good to work with in the beginning phases of setting up a travel contract. yes, in my original post i did ask for some suggestions of companies. that is all i was looking for, and that is all i'm trying to give to others. i don't want to just take, take, take! i wanted to also give some sort of feedback on this site after i've done some initial work, much like others have given feedback to me.

i'm not really looking for names of companies anymore. just trying to give encouragement to others in my same boat.

I can apreciate that as I give advice all the time (mostly unsolicited) and then never hear back on how things went. I guess I thought I saw a few different threads from you asking about this company or that company.

That's sending open invitations to people like "Dina/Alicia at FC" to come on here and start blabbing about how great they are.. You are new so I wont harsh you anymore but please realize that this place here is different than rate my rack errr delphi/pan travelers who in my opinion are all paid adverisers for these companies..

RNyogi,

The truth is that there is no "best company", believe me, I did a ton of research trying to find it. Go with the company that has the benefits that are most important to you. For example, I'd rather make less money and be on day shift than make more money and work night shift because, yes, I hate night shift that much! ;) Flexibility is the most important with your first travel assignment. After that, you are an "experienced traveler" and many more doors will open. There are TONS of agencies & positions open & close everyday. That first assignment is the hardest to get, so be as flexible as you can without compromising your happiness by going somewhere you know you don't want to go. Call some agencies, send out some applications, and go with the one you are the most comfortable with that has the benefits that are most important to you. Best of luck, keep me posted! :monkeydance:
