Hello friends.....curious if anyone has worked at Metropolitan in San Antonio? We (husband/Wife) are thinking of taking travel positions there in ICU/ER. Would like to know your experiences there. This will be our first time traveling if we take the job and would definitely like to have a good experience. Thanks in advance:)

I have not worked there. I worked down the street though. It is in a rough neighborhood right on the edge of downtown SA which is not a bad area in general. They have a new ED if I remember right. I knew one of the ED physicians there, he left recently to work locoms around the country and make more money with less days at work.... My best friend is an OB/Gyn who loves it down there at Metro. He is the head of their robotic surgery program. I would be working there now in the OR if they would have paid me a little more a couple of years back.... Methodist in San Antonio overall is a great system to work for.... It is not a slow ED. I would guess the ICU is also not slow..... I would find out how much they will give you for housing on the side. If it is over $1000 just fine your own place... this is a very inexpensive place to live.... I would guess you can find places furnished on craigslist for well under that. I would not want to take housing anywhere south, east or west of that hospital that is within 2 miles of it. I would go north about 1 mile or further. If you are lucky they would house you in a condo/loft directly downtown......That would be OK/cool. There is good nightlife downtown for couples without kids or singles.....
