License requirements for travellers?

I contacted an ad poster, for an ad that said 'any state nursing license can be used', for the assignment in the specified state. Since it's not a federal place (such as VA) that does allow any state license to be used, I'm wondering is it is possible to use your license from one state, when travelling to another? I'm suspicious.

Indian Hospitals, they are on reservations in multiple states. They are run by military who wear the military uniform. They are there to "protect them" and some wear guns. You can not live on the reservation and have to drive forever from your housing with nothing there if you break down, and no cell service. I have not been made aware of any place else, but there must be others that you can use your own state's license.

Thanks. It's not a compact issue, nor a federal/VA/tribal position- yet they claim 'any state license' is acceptable. I suspect it's spam.

The only places I know where a nursing license from any state can be used are with federal contracts (such as the Veteran's Administration) and emergency situations (hurricane Katrina for example). As a travel nurse it is possible to get an assignment with the VA regardless of the state you are licensed in and the state you will be working in.

Linda - do you work at a reservation hospital? This is a much different experience than I, or anyone I know has had. I grew up on a reservation. Depending on the location, non-natives can live on the reservation but usually choose not to. We did not have have military at the hospitals to protect anyone, it was just like any other hospital.

It is not true that there is always no cell service on a reservation. Not having cell service can happen anywhere in the United States, not specific to reservations. I have lived and traveled to many places where the cell service is spotty in certain areas. Here are the reasons for no cell service:

If the "No Service" message stays on, you may be in a location where the cellularsignal is too weak, such as a mountain valley, or where a cellular toweris not close enough to your phone. Weather or environmental conditions may alsobe a factor. Try your call again from another area.
