I'm wondering what experiences you've had working a strike? Any lessons learned? Interesting experiences?

I'm not asking if it's right to work a strike, I know there are some strong opinions out there about it! Thanks! :)

I have never worked a strike but I have asked lots of nurses about it. They love it but only for the $$. You go to someplace to WORK, they will work you 7 days, 12 hr shifts if they can but you do make lots of cash. They are travelers so they said not to expect to sightsee but they loved it. I am not able to be that flexable, they need you on short notice, but it sounds fun!

I worked a strike in MN a few years back and LOVED IT! My agency paid my transportation round trip, put us in a VERY NICE hotel, provided transportation to and from work each day and 2 meals per day at the hotel. The strike lasted a month a during that time I had one day off. You don't want days off...you work a strike to WORK. The one day I had off I didn't want off, but there were nurses crossing the line and coming back to work so they required each of us to take turns on having a day off. I made almost $50/hr and of course the big money came from all the overtime. I also made friends that I will always keep in touch with. I would do it again, but haven't had the opportunity.
