Oh man, never would've imagined it would happen to me. Always strong, standing up for what I believe in but with grace and dignity until now...I sought out a recruiter about 5 yrs ago but somehow convinced myself that instead I would put my energy into positive change in my current workplace, I have 10 yrs of service and a pension (which is unheard of in todays market). Ive touched base with this recruiter about every other year, still longing to take the plunge. Here I am, nothing has changed except that I am now off work 2ndary to work related stress with no ST disability, burning up my own hard earned PTO. Traveling is a burning desire of mine, I'll get there, but for now I'm exploring why I've made the choices I have in a NO WIN situation. My future is in travel nursing and I will recover from this and pursue my dreams. Thanks to ALL NURSES for this site. I'm with you all in spirit if not in body.

take your time to recover...and when you're ready, take the plunge! if you've thought about it for years, and have a little courage, traveling could just be the one decision to revitalize your life and the love of your career.

one very good thing about being a traveler, is that if you don't like the place, you only have 13 weeks to put up with it!

good luck, hang in there..."occupational stress" is more common than you might think...and we've all been there with you before!:redpinkhe

Thank you soooo much Gypsy for your caring support. What a worrisome event to be off work thru no choice of my own resulting from the employer driving me over the edge, it has never happened in my entire 16 yr career, what a sad day. I'm considering taking a Hawaii assignment for an enviromental boost of solice and peace, just awaiting the phone interview and feel bad that ambiguity is still on the forefront. I'm sure this too will pass when I recover from this sustained workplace trauma.

ambiguity is part and parcel of being human...sometimes we just have to make ourselves get out of the rut.

remember that bad situations are always a possibility, wherever you travel. the only choices we have are what we make for ourselves, especially in how we let others treat us, and how we respond to situations. everything that happens, we allow to happen. with that in mind, resume your career when you're ready and make better choices.

hawaii is a wonderful place, and i'm sure the change of scenery will do wonders for your mental health...just remember..you are in charge of how you feel and respond to the nonsense we deal with every day, and not just at work, and like you said...this too shall pass! (it's my personal mantra, as my loved ones will tell you!)

blessings and prayers for your quick recovery!:typing
