Embarassing Question

I am an experienced ED/CCU nurse that is considering traveling. I have chosen southern california for 13 weeks if the right assignment/offer would come up. I think with their new staffing ratios, there is money to be made there.

One thing that I do have to consider is that I have no credit card and in fact, my credit is very bad. ($$$ is one of the reasons I am looking at travel nursing)

Would you chance traveling without a credit card? I'm even worried about bank accounts since without credit it's difficult to get another one in a different locale.

What do you think? Any advice?

Thanks!

I would just drop in here also that Enterprise Rental car will accept debit card but they put a lean on like $200 then when you return the car they just deduct the total of course if you are looking at a 13 week rental I don't know or perhaps you will be within walking distance to the faciltiy or will use public transpo.

Good Luck and let us know how it works out I have often considered doing a bit of traveling but have never worked up the nerve to go for it.

American Mobile took money back from my acct. They had overpaid me. Would have preferred they contact me first, but instead poof! Gone. I asked them about it and they said "we overpaid, we can withdraw." This was the only time I had that experience with them.

Household Credit issues an Orchard Bank credit card to people with bad credit. I don't remember the interest rate because when I use it, I pay it off so I've never carried a balance. This way I have a legitimate credit card and my bank debit card when I travel. I've traveled since 94 and would not do it without some back up in case there is a problem with pay or bank. Good luck. Have fun and make sure whatever hospital you choose will allow you to work overtime. Some won't let traveller's do OT. Read everything you can and ask lots of questions when you interview with the hospital.
