Contacting manager through email beforehand?

Hello all,

I know that contacting a manager beforehand of a unit at a hospital you're being submitted to is a big no-no but I'm wondering if it would be OK in the following case:

I had a GREAT experience at a smaller/medium-sized hospital earlier this year. I did two contracts on two floors and all the nurses and CNAs love me and some of the supervisors too. The only thing is on the last floor I worked, they have a new manager every several months.

Here's the issue: I want to go back to this hospital as it was a great experience and if my profile is seen by the new manager on the unit I was on, she likely will treat me like any other candidate. She is unlikely to talk to staff and see if they remember me, like me, etc... So, I was thinking, if I email her directly after I'm submitted, I could let her know that I was there before and I really liked it and know their computer system etc etc...

Is that an absolute bad move or could I do it without negative consequences? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks. BTW, this is an IHS hospital.

Not necessary. Your work history shows your assignments at that hospital, and presumably you have written references from the prior managers there? An agency that halfway does things right will ensure the hospital knows you are the best candidate, far better than all the unknown candidates.

Something else to be concerned with is maintaining your tax home. If you have one and are accepting tax free stipends, your eligibility will end and your tax home will shift if you take this assignment and extend one more. Be careful!
