Canadian ICU RN looking for info on travelling

I'm a Canadian RN with 15 years ICU experience. I have my CNCC©, a year as a Resource Nurse, as well as experience as an Organ and Tissue Coordinator.

I'm considering a shift in career and think that travel nursing could be the change I'm looking for.

Where do I start? I don't have the NCLEX and am not licensed in the US yet. What are the the states best to start at for licensing? Any recommendations for agencies that will help guide me through the process and have my back when it comes to sourcing out jobs that pay well and are supportive? |What kind of pay rates, or bonuses or cost of living type stuff should I expect?

Also what happens with Income Tax? Do I pay in Canada or the US? or is that just dependent on how long I stay in the US?

So many questions. I've tried to read through many recruiter websites, but the information isn't quite enough for me. I'm reluctant to register with any of them because I don't want to be spammed or pressured by agencies to sign now.

Any information is helpful. Might lead to more questions though.. so be prepared!!

There are a lot of threads on this very subject, all yours for a simple search on AllNurses. You can also search on Google, but many of the relevant results will be threads on AllNurses. Google may or may not do a better job of finding them.

Thanks for that.. I've been searching and finding current information isn't exactly easy. A lot is also written for Americans by Americans. I suppose I'm looking more for the Canadian experience.
