Has anyone ever taken a travel position at Mass Gen or the Brigham? Just curious to see what people experienced and if you liked it or not.

I've heard nothing but great things about Mass Gen. Strangely enough I find myself in Boston tonight... But I'm here for the beer festival. Lol.

Just spoke with a former colleague who traveled to Mass Gen, states very good patient ratios and superior technology. Not sure what the exact numbers are. I believe they use Epic, but I'm not 100%.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Mass Gen depends on the unit. In the ER, travelers are put in 1 of 2 areas, and both are insane, to say the least. When I spoke to their rep, she echoed the same information a fellow traveler told me.

I've learned very quickly, though, that ERs run and are staffed quite different from other units in a hospital.

I actually did assignments at both MGH and BWH. I loved both and loved living in Boston. I did ICU float pool for both. I left in November and at that time both were preparing for an EMR roll out. They were still paper charting / using their own medication admin system. They're preparing to go to Epic soon or now?

Be prepared at both for sick patients and for tons of learning experiences. I found the staff to be overall more welcoming to at BWH. The residents are the same between both facilities so that was nice to see them at each one. Both are extremely well known and recognized in the country. MGH is 2 and BWH is 9. They expect a lot from staff and travelers, so be prepared to be held to a high standard of care.

I would for sure go back to either one, but think if I had to choose it would be BWH. I thought the nurses were just a tad more welcoming.
