Hi everyone,

I am on my first travel assignment in NC and having a good experience. I have started to look for my next assignment. Has anyone worked at the hospital in Bend, Oregon or Medford, Oregon?

I have worked at Rogue Valley in Medford....was a staff RN there....

it's an okay place to work....they assignments at that time were not too bad...it's a union hospital...(bargaining unit ONA)...

Some of the nurses on nocs were really cliquey and backstabbing....

some were not really safe....but they were the pets, and their mistakes were ignored...

management: ahem....can you say two faced?

The area is beautiful....the rivers, trees, mountains...lots of hiking, biking, outdoors stuff to do....

housing? not too bad...

don't know about the pay scale...probably isn't as high as some places.

Hours were usually 12's....they did offer overtime and sign ups for extra...

Don't know about floating....they used to have a float pool, but I think it was disolved...

They also had IV therapy teams...and Code Teams....don't know if that still is in effect...

Education: I wasn't given much orientation....and what I did get was not what I would consider orientation....I was basically passed from RN to RN like an old Kleenex....I had to dig out the info myself....some people were helpful...but many were just annoyed with my questions as a newbie...

Some travelers weren't treated very nice by the charge nurses....one in particular was just nasty....

Bend is supposed to be a nice hosp. It's a ski resort town and western type town....sort of an Aspen quality to it...lots of money there by residents...the housing is EXPENSIVE.

There are two hosp. in Medford....Ashland Oregon has a hosp. as well...and is a pretty nice community....has the Shakespeare Theater, a university, lots of cool shops, breweries, and outdoorsy stuff...

The area is nice...

You will see lots of traumas....people vs. trees....falling out of them, falling on them...running into them....etc....

If you decide to go there....PM me, I will give you some pointers on the are and the places to go....and visit....and great places to eat, shop, etc...

and I still have some pals there...who could help you out...
