Anyone know a good travel company?

I never travel nurse before and I was hoping someone knew of a good company to start with. I have 4 years ICU and floor experience. Please help!

It depends on what you are looking for. Some companies offer really great benefits packages and lower pay rates. Others offer really high rates, but your health insurance isn't very good, or the support is bad.

I have persoinally had pretty good luck with

Cirrus (though don't let the housing lady find your housing with a dog, very bad personal experience with that!)

Sunbelt Staffing is a smaller company, I did a contract with them, and they were very responsive.

Been trying to work with Sagent, but they didnt have the contract I wanted, but very good.

And I have been known tocontract with Cross Country trav corp, or nova Pro (Esserntially same company). They have a very cookie cutter approach, everyone is treated the same, but you always know what to expect. In fact, currently out of the 4 they are the only ones I worked with that have been able to satisfy my dog's housing need appropriately.... I have a big dog...so much revolves around him....:D

I am new to this forum but I have a great recruiter at Nursefinders travel. From the recruiters to the director, everyone has just been great. The pay is very good and I can get in touch with my recruiter anytime...which I absolutely love. So far so good......:yeah::yeah:

Do not, do not go with Valley Healthcare Systems. They promise a lot but do not follow through. Insurance coverage starts the first month after your start contract date (other agencies provide first day health insurance coverage first day of the assignment). Mailings are very slow if not non-existent (receiving health insurance cards in a timely fashion or your pay stubs) and the director is very non-responsive and biased in his dealings. He is good with his words and apology but does little to rectify the wrong-doings and incompetencies. The nurse truly suffers in this contract.

I've been traveling for many years and have gone through quite a few companies. I am with Innovative Placements and will work now for no other. They have giving me the best compensation I have ever recieved. They are always there for YOU. You get to know everyone you work with and everything is done and arrives in a very timely manner. This year they changed to weekly pay as well. My recuriter is the best.

FYI I ended up getting surgery last year. My recruiter went out of her way last year to make sure that my insurance never ended while I was out. They called my family the day of my surgery to check up on me and sent me emails and cards. As I said I can't ask for better.

How's their health insurance & do they have a 401K?

My first assignemnt was with American Mobile. My goodness, they were so good to me and when I extended, I had unexpected bonuses added. I was very happy with them and always recommend them. If you work with them, you will be busy. If you also register with Cross Country travel Nurses, between the two you could virtually get into any area, any hospital without any stress. They are not the highest paying but as for work, you will have to push work away like crazy. Travel nursing is a very good way to work and make money to put away for your future. If you have the freedom to do this, do it because this is such a wonderful way to get away from hospital politics and just focus on your patients and give good care. I just want to say one more thing... you decide when you want to take off. If you love your Holidays free, do so. You don't have to be stuck with requesting time off and you know this includes going on vacation. I have seen Nurses actually cry when I was on staff because they paid for tickets for a cruise that were non-refundable and couldn't get the time off. I still swallow hard everytime I think of this one Nurse who was still newly married and hadn't taken a honeymoon yet. I was devastated for her and tried to convince the Nurse Manager to allow it. She told me we'd be too short staffed. I was surprised that this gal didn't quit. Instead, she cried and took the loss.

I have been travelling with RN Network for the past year and have nothing but great reviews. My housing has been awesome, my recruiter is out of this world, both of them, had one who left the company and my current one. My assignments have been great! Insurance is good. What more can I say?

I work with favorite healthcare staffing. So far they have been great. Pay is high compared to other companies, health insurance is good, 401K, dental. Recruiters have been very helpful and supportive.

Do you ever get asked to sign a contract before they start looking for housing for your dog? How can you get the contract up front to look over before be submited to hospitals so you don't have to burn bridges by turning down hospitals because of bad contracts? How big is your dog? I have Rottie mix I want to travel with?

I myself like Alliant Medical Staffing, Sarah is the best, concerns for you and family are top with her. Not to bad a deal.
