  1. I wouldn't recommend it. Nursing doesn't pay good in my opinion. Travel pay isn't there anymore. It's hard work. No respect from patients or management. Been a nurse for 16 years and wish I would have picked radiologist, psychiatrist, pharmacist, or MD. something that pays good & adjusts to inflation nursing pay doesn't adjust. I saw a gas station paying assistant manger more than I make.
  2. Is anyone on here in Nova Southeastern university Tampa, Florida campus for psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner? Is anyone starting in August 2023? Do they really have five preceptors? How is going to campus with the hybrid class on your time and working Full-Time? Do you have to have Psych experience do this? Been a nurse for 16 years and dealt with lots of Psych patients just not on an inpatient unit only on the floors ICU/Med/Surgical
  3. Just checking to see if anyone has heard of Spire Healthcare Staffing per diem in Atlanta, GA? Any feed back on the company and what it's like working for them as a staffing agency? Average pay rates? Like facility they send you to?
  4. what are some good agencies to get travel jobs to HI? Nurse with 2 years experience wanting to travel to HI.
  5. Just wondering what travel dialysis is like? And what companys you traveled with? How much dialysis experience do you need? Is each clinic/acute setting basically the same?
  6. :bow:Hello all any experienced diaylsis nurses have any good things to say about dialysis and FMC? I have been a nurse for a year and left the hospital setting for an FMC dialysis unit and will be required to be on call for the hospital I left once I go through 5 weeks of training. Would like to know what the charting is like, patients, and just a day in the life of a dialysis nurse who loves what they do. I have read so many negative post on here about Fresinius and dailysis that it is making me nervous and would like to hear some postive aspects of dailysis and FMC. Any information will be greatly apperciated.
  7. hope your interview goes good is it with a travel agency?
  8. Hello I saw that you work for FMC and I was reading the post from other people on here and like you mentioned every one seems to be very harsh. I graduated last May 2007 from nursing school and worked at a small hospital doing float until July and now I am starting training with FMC on Sept. 2nd. and will get 4 weeks of class training then 5 weeks on the floor then I will be working the clinic and be required to be on call for hospital when dialysis is needed. How hard is dialysis and would that be suffcient training to be on call for a hospital? What is diaylsis really like? Any good things to say about FMC actually theses negative post are making me nervous. Any information is greatly apperciated.
  9. I am glade you like LTC nursing. I have did a little bit of every thing since I graduated last year. I worked Med/Surg, ICU, TELE, Nursery/Postpartum, and PRN at a LTC facility. I just can't seem to find where I fit in nursing out side the school setting. I am going to try my hand at diaylsis. I start with Fresinius Medical on Sept. 2nd so I guess I will see if it is my fit. I sure hope I find something I really love in nursing. I love helping people that is why I became a nurse. The hospital seemed to get to hectic for me with to much politics and gossiping. The LTC facility was great but didn't get enought training to feel comfortable with all of the paper work for admissions, skin assessments, and the med pass was the worst part for me trying to pass meds on 30 residents. I liked the LTC because I felt like I got to know the resident better than the patients who come and go in the hospital setting. Hospital I did 7pm-7am and felt like I never got to see my new born daughter. I hope dialysis will be the fit for me.
  10. Hello I would be interested in traveling to any of those places. How long have you been a nurse? Do you have kids? What type of nursing do you do?
  11. I am an RN with one year experience and interviewed for a dialysis position with a rate of $19.50 per hour. So not having ever been an LPN but knowing a few I would think that is pretty good. Compared to the hospital I worked at only payed RN's $15.81 per hour. So I am hoping I get the dialysis job.
  12. with only a year of med/surg and doing travel nursing with only 1 day to orient to the floor how hard would it be to ajust to the dressing and pts ect? While doing med/surg I have been in the float pool to ICU, Womens Care, and Rehabilitation.
  13. Hello thinking of traveling with 1 year med/surg experience out of nursing school to an 16 bed acute care burn unit in Winston-Salem, NC for a 13 week travel nurse assignment. How different would it be?
  14. Any one ever traveled to Medical Center of Louisiana? Thinking of taking as assignment and must sign contract by tomorrow traveling with Supplemental Healthcare because they don't pay for housing give $808 for meals and lodging. Woundering if it is travel friendly? I would be working 5 East Tele/Med/Surg? Any one know about the hospital? Or the company?
  15. Hello, first time traveler wondering will staffing travel agency show you the contract up front? Working with two different recruiters form different companies and these are questions dealing with contracts and signing them. One recruiter wanting an answer right then with out seeing a contract and when said want to see contract first was told if I didn't verbal commit right then that the job would go to some one else? Also another company had "Employee may be asked to float and Employee shall agree to such request" "Employee shall agree to work overtime as requested and/or required by Client." "Employee will pay a $15 per hour penalty for every hour that the Employee is short agreed minimum number of regular 468 hours." Is this normal in contracts, would an experienced traveler have any suggestions and would you sign this? I mean what if the hospital called you off for low census? I asked my recruiter and they said they didn't inforce the overtime or the penelty but wouldn't take it out of the contract however they said I could mark it out with a pen, is that legally binding or not? Any answers greatly apperciated.
