I got in to Lonestar college -but I don't know what Cpr class to take. I signed up for the continuing education basic life support. But it doesn't say if it has two year certification. Anyone know?

Yes, AED was included. Word of caution: call asap to reserve a spot. They only take a handful of people each session and they are offered like twice a month. The phone number to RSVP is on the website http://www.juniorleaguehouston.org/?nd=outreach .
So I called this morning and been told the registration is already full. Summer sessions are not made available until further notice. Thanks again for the heads up, Britt! :)

Hi misserella8036!How did it go? Does it include AED? Do both Basic Life Support and Professional Rescuer include AED?

That class got cancelled. I had to pick a different class. I'm going to one at Conroe Center that states its for healthcare providers. It's $42.

You will need "healthcare provider" from American Heart. The title of their student manual is "BLS for Healthcare Providers".

Hi! I'm in the nursing program at Lone Star and you needed American Heart Association - BLS for Healthcare Providers. I took it in the summer at North Harris - I think it's under Continuing Education. It's good for 2 years.

inbymas.com was great for me its an aha class taught by RNs I needed it for my new job in memorial hermann norhwest ER my manager suggested them. Cost 40cash or 45 credit card.
Merely a week later and I still keep hearing the same o' pre-recording response. Darn! I can't wait any longer. I guess I have no other choice. On the other hand, I want to thank everyone for the awesome feedback! :)
The Junior League of Houston offers the only free CPR: BLS for healthcare providers in Houston. My nursing school accepted it. I have the red cross certification card. Just had to go two evenings for an hour and a half each. It was great. Saved $. http://www.juniorleaguehouston.org/?nd=outreach

The American Heart Association class is the basic life support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. It is good for two years. Do not confuse it with the Heartsaver/Cpr class because that is not for healthcare providers and it won't be accepted by your school.
Although some schools accept Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer, hospitals don't, and you'd have to then take an AHA class in order to get a job in a hospital.

The correct course for all healthcare providers is BLS for HCP. This is the American Heart Associations Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers. If you do not have a hospital nursing education department or fire station offering near you go the website www.americanheart.org click on find a class and the course you want and enter your zip code.
Good luck future nurse.
