  1. Lizzienick311 - you could go to Scrubs, Etc. on the I-45 feeder near The Woodlands if you are close. They give a 30% discount to students.
  2. I took the NCLEX on June 12 (Friday) at 8:00 a.m. and my results were available at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 14th. I had another friend that took it on a Friday and her results were also available on Sunday.
  3. Hey Lizzienick311 - I graduated from North Harris this past May. I had the chicken pox as a child, but also had the vaccine. It's a weird thing in my family...we get the chicken pox as kids and then some of my family has gotten them again as adults...so I didn't want to take any chances. I got the vaccine just before I started nursing school at Sadler clinic. It was no problem.
  4. Hey Tyshe - I just graduated from North Harris and unfortunately, you do need all of the books on the list...at least the ones that are required. There are some on the list that are not required, but most of them are. I remember thinking the same as you...do we REALLY need them all!!! Anyway, I bought a lot of my books from biggerbooks.com, but definitely check around. I think alot of them are cheaper online than through the book store.
  5. Lizzienick311 - there is a special form, but I suggest you wait until orientation. They will tell you everything you need to know and you will have time to get everything taken care of before they ask for the paperwork to be turned in. I can't remember how long they give you, but it was plenty of time.
  6. Yes, white tops and teal bottoms.
  7. jeneecw - I graduate May 8th from North Harris - Yea!! Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I know of 3 people that will be graduating with me in a couple of weeks that had babies during our 2 years at NH. They were able to hang in there and get through nursing school and I'm sure you can too. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that it can be done. Good luck to you...and all the others recently accepted!!
  8. Hey - I'm about to start my fourth and final semester at LSC-NH. The way it works is that everyone that applies to all LSC colleges is put in point order...from highest to lowest. Then, they just start going down the list. When they get to your name, if there are still spots available at your first choice, then that's where you get accepted to, if not, then they go to your second, third, etc. That's what the counselor told me a couple of years ago when I applied. I got accepted to NH with an 11.1.
  9. I got in with an 11.1, but I know some students that had below that and they were accepted...this was last year at North Harris.
  10. I agree w/houstoncprinstructor - it is hard to get into any nursing schools these days...so, I would apply to all and then maybe you'll get accepted to more than one and have your choice.
  11. Hey - I am starting my second year at North Harris. You will need to purchase a stethoscope. I don't think we had to buy a blood pressure cuff b/c you can use the ones in the lab, but it definitely helps to have one so you can practice at home. You don't need a pen light b/c it comes in your lab supply kit. On another note, if you can, come to Camp Wanna Win. We will give you all the details of what you need to buy that will help you in nursing school.
  12. Hi! I'm in the nursing program at Lone Star and you needed American Heart Association - BLS for Healthcare Providers. I took it in the summer at North Harris - I think it's under Continuing Education. It's good for 2 years.
  13. I took pharmacology from Wanda Seaback last summer online and it wasn't too bad. There is definitely a lot of reading. Most of the tests are taken in the testing center on campus (you can go to any Lone Star campus, doesn't have to be Kingwood). She's really nice and very easy to work with.
  14. I know what you mean about the age - I'm 35 w/2 young kiddos. It is very stressful to not know if you have enough points. I think you have a pretty good shot at getting accepted. You'll have to keep us posted.
  15. Hi! I'm in the program at North Harris - my score was an 11.01, but I'm not sure what the lowest score was for this group. Good luck to you...and if I remember right, we found out in early April if we were accepted.
